After a long drought, we were able to get all our stars aligned back up and the project has continued. As of today, the motor and trans are bolted together and the trans and rear motor mounts are in. This Saturday, the front mount and brackets for divorcing the T-case should be made up and hopefully in. Pump and nozzles are on there way to a shop in Chattanooga, TN to get some minor repair work and flow tested. Hopefully it will be done before TS this year.
Some questions. Why do you have the motor sitting so low? Is that so you didn'y have to make a huge transmision tunnel? Also what springs are in the front and how many leafs? Thanks, keep up the work on this i want to see this bad boy done. Also did you realize that the oil that sits in front of that notch in the oil pan will never make it to the sump? Just an observation dont hate me.
Its low because like mentioned it would require hacking the interior up more plus the driveline is as straight as an arrow in its position. It also allows us to run the hood without having to modify it also with the way the intake is setup in the valve cover. The 545 will be ditched when he gets enough money to get crazy with the power. As of now it will roll with it until we can get a custom adapter made for something else. Right now it will stay 2wd until then. The previous owner of the motor was putting it in a pickup truck also and had it notched. We have a complete blown motor that we have been frankensteining with the good motor and have been trying to see what we like as far as modifying something better to clear the front axle. The springs on the front of the truck are part of a Shyjacker or Superlift 6" system. I can't remember which one it is. Motor didn't budge the springs. We were expecting it to squat some. I will post some pics shortly. Front and rear mounts are in and the interior is back together.
Yes to lazy for pics but the radiator, trans cooler, and electric fans are in the bed and the air dog just arrived yesterday so fuel plumbing can begin.
Few pics I was able to take on project "Poking Along". Getting some battery cables made this week and hopefully we will finally get the pump timed and then we should be able to light her off.
cool build, but man no way that could be practical for a truck that gets used for more than a toy. Def seems like a 360 is the only way to keep things under the hood etc.
