I am trying to replace the drivers side ball joints on my 07 F250 and am having an awful time getting the axle out. We have managed to get the rotor and hub off and removed the lockout. The axle is loose but there seems to be a black seal around the end of the axle that wont budge. Any siggestions?
just did this last night I feel your pain I took a bearing puller and clamped it in to the grove where the snop ring went and use that along with two pieces of angle iron behind it then ran two bolts through the puller up against the angle and it pulled right out.
slide hammer... have pulled many axleshafts from many vehicles with the same slidehammer..
