Ok, here's the method I used, do what you with it, don't have pics, or wiring diagrams, kinda burned out on the whole forums thing, helping out ole Gare Bare is always a pleasure though!
This won't exactly be a secret anymore once I share it, but I was able to pick up the handle with camera on eBay for $26 shipped due to using Lincoln as a search method. Anything associated with F250, F350, diesel, or power stroke seems to get a 300% mark up. These are the same handles and cameras as the F150 and Lincoln trucks, just food for thought.
I'm not sure who I discussed this with when I did it, but it was via PM, I used a 4 wire trailer harness as my means of disconnect to remove the tailgate.
The wiring diagram is easy to find using Google, it was on a F150 forum. If someone can attach it here I would appreciate it, I'm using a cell phone to post.
You need 4 wires, power, ground and two for the video. The power is easy, use the positive wire to the reverse lamps, this will only power the camera when in reverse, ground needs no explanation. The video wires, my head into uses an RCA for input. I purchased a 25 foot quality video cable, and spiced one end into the female side of the trailer harness.
There is a nice hole at the bottom of the tailgate for the trailer connector to feed through without modifications, I drilled a hole and installed a gromet into the bed above my ID light bar, installed cable into wire loom. The quality of the install depends on you at this point, where you drill, how you make your splices, etc.
I will note that I have scrolling lines in my display, I will not blame this on my install at the moment, because I also get scrolling lines when I am in GPS mode. The GPS has been returned and replaced, same problem, and I'm since leaning towards my dirty power problems being my "rebuilt" alternator done at a local shop. Kinda don't care anymore, just drive the thing these days.
Anymore questions just have Gare Bare send a text!
