Hey guys I am about to do my GF spark plugs on her 05 f150 w/ 5.4 motor....issue am having is thier is SO MUCH DIRT in the well of the spark plugs I can't even get the socket around the plug it self. what wood be best to get this dirt out. WD-40 and then take a long small screw driver to get it out? please help
Hope all goes well for you, if all the plugs start breaking off in the head snapon sells a kit to extract them for $180. Try and break up all the dirt and get a shop vac in there, that might work.
im gonna go with compressed air. good psi not those cheapy compressors get like 120 psi going. that will clear out alot. or get a hose and spray it out
Blow it all out with air! If not all that dirt will be in your engine!!!!! DO NOT EVER SPRAY A COIL ON PLUG MOTOR DOWN WITH WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will end up replacing every coil on it. Seen it happen many of times!
I only have 1 of those 30 gal. compressor that you can dolly around it makes a decent amount of PSI but the dirt was hard if i remember correctly maybe I should get the motor warm to loosen it up a bit and then blow air in it?
Your compressor should work fine, Heat from the running engine, may help loosen the dirt.
BUT the engine must be stone cold when removing the plugs or it will take the threads out of the heads w the plugs. I would clean the spark plug holes one day and spray PB blaster into each hole while warm. Let it sit over night and pull the plugs the next day
compressed air to blow it out and 3/8 air gun... Read my post in the other thread.
