How can I tell what gear ratio I have ? I look at the tag and the only number that looks like a gear ratio is 409 is that the number? There is also other numbers.
Its a e99 F250 that I picked up for parts. On the tag it also say's S 409B and the next line it has 3L73,10 5 8E08, is the 3L73 mean its a 3.73 gear ratio? I have a friend that is looking for a 3.73 rear end.
With a stock tire, I'd block the front wheeels, jack up the back, put truck in neutral and rotate one rear tire one revolution and count how many times the drive shaft goes around. Ex... just over 4 but less than 4 1/2 -4.10's It'll get you some idea.
To find a factory Ford D60 or D70 rear, you're gonna need a time machine, or a second gen dodge 1 ton rearend that can be made to fit... I don't even know for sure what years/models Ford used the Dana rearend...
Bump.
