right now Im in the middle of replacing all of my injectors, glow plugs, relay and a few other things....I was wondering if it really mattered that my truck has 1 single AE injector( rear drivers side head ) and Im replacing them with single shot AA's? also my other question is what is the best way to get off and torque the inner injector hold down? I can see doing it with a 5/16" wrench but not how to retorque it....I want this done correctly...
I am going to stage 1 single shot injectors in my 2000 superduty...not just stocks, I have the proper tuning to run them as well. I guess I should have specified....also I found a LITTLE bit of fuel on the upper portion of the injector( in the head ) should I be worried at all? I checked the cup and it looks alright, no scratches or anything...
ok so you are going to stage 1's.... they aren't aa's any more
no the one ae doesn't matter
You do not remove or torque the top injector bolts.... You Only remove the lower bolts and the oil deflectors then you slide the collar up to remove the injector.
If you ever DO remove the upper bolts then just snug them all the way down before installing the injectors. Uh "found a little fuel on upper part of...." Heck, no clue... If you mean after you pulled the injector there was some fuel in the oil dripping from it then no, put it down and keep working
thank you guys! I love this site. I am actually not putting the truck back together tonight I am taking the I/C pipes, valve covers and powerstroke cover home and painting them to clean them up( the wife said this was ok lol ) so Im going to pick up a billet oil cap, some synthetic oil, stainless bolts( for the valve covers) and some stainless band clamps for the I/C to clean up the underside of the hood a little....Im also doing the CCV mod, ebpv delete and FP spring while Im under here....Im pretty excited for all my new toys it should look pretty sick when Im done underneath the hood
ok so Im on the passenger back 2 injectors and the upper bolt( under the oil galley ) won't come out,.....they keep rounding the heads off and Im afraid of them not being able to come out....HELLPPPPPPPP@!!!!
I cant decide.,.....I want to save up for a set of the polished valve covers, but for right now, I think red or silver will look good....Im thinking red and red IC pipes....what do you guys think?
LOL thanks. Today was a COMPLETELY productive day. I got ALL the injectors out. The drivers side is all buttoned back up minus the valve cover and I/C pipe ( getting painted ). I pulled the drivers side injectors, still need to pull the oil from the cylinders out and replace the glowplugs...and install all the parts...pretty productive for only 7 hours of work and not lifting the cab. I also replaced the IDM with a modded one and just got done tinting my taillights
LOL hopefully I'll never have to do them again LOL
On a side note I picked up some chrome button caps for the valve cover bolts, painted 1 IC pipe and 1 valvecover today. I have a question though, does anyone know where to get a billet oil fill cap and possibly billet fill tube at? I found one on eBay a while back but can't find it again
No idea on the fill tube but a billet cap can be bought from any place that sells billet caps for fords. They are all the same. Try looking at a place that does them for mustangs.
Me too, I'm very glad it went well....I'm not going to say it went very well just yet since I have to finish putting it together thursday ( I've been working 12's ) so not a lot of time to do it. Thank god it will be done soon. I've got a few things to pull out in order to get my other new stuff installed. I really want some billet under the hood though....and some stainless braided lines....just a whole lot of chrome....
well everything got finished up today getting ready to start it up....thinking about waiting til morning cause it is almost 3 am LOL, I've been wiping the parts down that I painted everytime I accidentally touch them so it's been tedious lol
I also picked up a chrome oil cap from pep boys for 5 bucks so hopefully everything else goes well and stays clean
I did notice I've got a few oil leaks....one in the valley and one from behind the engine but before the trans I think hopefully the valley is from the valve cover gaskets.... I HOPE....what else could it be?
well I waited until morning........it was hydrolocked a bit but we got through that ok.......got it started up.......it ran for ABOUT.........A minute......than shut off.........NOW IT WONT FRIGGIN START AGAIN!!!! what are your ideas? Rudys said air in the lines, but it has acted like it WANTS to start but it won't,.....Im believing it to be a fueling issue....any ideas PLEASE this damn truck is giving me a headache!
Yes I did do that I took everyones advice here. The truck started, ran for about a minute and than shut off( just like someone turned the key ) and now it won't start. To me it sounds like its not getting fuel but the pump is running
I just got it running again.........it was running a little longer this time and now it just shut off again, this time with my foot on the throttle.....any ideas?
