I talked to sct today about some issues I'm having, after the guy got my information he said that I would need to update my firmware i'n next few days. My questions is, do you have to update, what is the updates for? I have custom tunes so don't know why I need update, besides that the last time I had to update the sct locked up, really dont want to deal with it if I don't have too..
I been having a ton of issues with my Livewire! In the last 2 weeks been on the phone for over 3 hours with techs as SCT. Mine locks up all the time, SCT says it is Innovatives tuning and Innovative says it is the livewire. I have already had the Beta firmware update which is what SCT says is the most up to date but it did not solve any of my issues. What problems you got with the Livewire?

First, I can't believe that SCT threw one of their top Dealers/Tuners "Under the Bus"!
Next, I have been running Eric's tunes for almost two years - first, with a Livewire and then, for the last 8 months, with a new TSX. (I wanted a better display) They both WORKED perfectly - I haven't had a single problem that related to Eric's code/tunes. The couple of problems I have had were with the devices. I had a corrupted "Stock Tune" on the Livewire and had to have Ford re-flash the truck (for $100) and then the TSX, aside from it's shortcomings, had a dongle die (the bottom end of the tuner) - I had to send it back to SCT, they put a new circuit board in it then sent it to Eric to reload his tunes. Too bad for me that my "Stock Tune" was stored on that "Dead Dongle". Yeah, you guessed it - another $100.00!
The "Shortcomings" I spoke of are supposedly being addressed in the new firmware update that has been coming since September of 2010 and still hasn't! Hence, I removed my TSX and sold it - can't deal with SCT's customer service issues any more. I'll stay STOCK (and sane) for a while!
Just read this thread man.. First on I got had firmware issues, then idp ( who I think makes great tunes)sent me a second worked fine except for it wouldn't go into od.. Now it's debatable on here wheather it was my truck or sct tuner or the tunes by idp.. All I know is I'm pretty sure if my truck wasn't hitting od I would had burnt up the trans, so I know it worked b4 I installed. I got new tcm yesterday seems to be Workin now, but they say I need to update it, I'm at point now where I don't want to touch it. Seems to be Workin right after almost two months, so hopefully I don't have to update it.. Any know if I have to do the update?Btw one more time I think erics tunes are unreal fast, just had lots of trouble so far, hope it's all better now, will find out if the snow ever melts around here.. Lol
i had a deallings with sct i cant say enough good things about them, they fixed my truck.
i pretty much lost communcation when it was down loading, the truck wouldnt even turn the starter over, after a few hours they had it running agian.
back up your stock tune on a pc. if you cant do that dont tune your pickup. having said that sct seems alright, they helped me when i needed it even though i bought a used tuner. it seems no matter what, you can run in to trouble messin with your unit
Man I'm not saying anything about erics tunes!!!!! Read all the post, I said my truck run like a rocket! What I said was when all called Eric, he said he had no idea what was wrong with it, called sct they said well that's a idp issue need to call them. I guess the tuner either ate my tcm or it just happened to go out the same day I loaded tuner idk... Im really kinda over it, got truck out yesterday run and shifted good!! Hopefully no more problems. This post was meant to be informational, do if your shifts are wacked maybe it's your tcm! Took me 2 months an trip to the dealer to get fixed but it's fixed so I'm happy......
:whs:
Love the Innovative tunes. the power is amazing and i went from 10.4mpg round town to almost 15. As far as customer service goes I think SCT and Innovative have been great. One SCT tech was on the phone with me for an hour and half trying to figure out what was goin on and fix it while I made a dozen trips from my pc out to the truck and back. Eric and Ted have always been quick to get back with me too. They seem to be very interested and want to make sure they get it fixed. I dont blame anybody for the issues that I have had with the tuner or the truck.
Man I hope sct and idp gives me great service from this point foward. All I know is what I was told. They told me it was a idp problem, no reason for me to say it if it wasn't true.. After all this has happened guess if it was tcm an it was you can chaulk it up as either it went out as soon as I point on tuner or the tuner screwed up my tcm idk.. I will leave that to the experts on here... I know right before I took to dealer coy at coysdiesel an another guy I think ( woodboy) told me it sound like tcm... Why it screwed I have know idea. I know when I researched as I did for hours everyday lol, it was lots of people saying sct screwed up there tcm.. I'm just glad my truck is running now!! Now I can move on to my next projects... I really love this truck, very, very fast with erics tunes, REALLY UNBELIVABLE!!!
I have a call into SCT to find out who is saying that the tune is locking up the Livewire. That definitely isn't the case and impossible. Our custom tunes install the same way as any other tune. Must be a rookie there at SCT.
Man this is exactly what happened... After I read erics email, I ask everyone what it could be, noone had any idea... Called sct stayed on hold forever, went to there website seen they had online help.. Told the guy the prob he replied said it was a idp issue seeing they wrote the tunes that I should call them, by that time online chat locked up.. I said heck with it.. Man I'm not trying to make u guys look bad, this is just what happened.. If y'all think the tcm went out just cuz it was old or faulty then so be it.. It's shifting right now.. So I guess that was the prob.. The whole purpose of the thread was to inform the next guy that has shifting issues that it is probaly tcm.. I'm not saying the guy wasn't a rookie, he prob was, the next guy I talked to at sct on the phone seemed to be pretty helpful, just said he was i'n a hurry which I thought was pretty sh$$$.. But he did help. Btw I read your post again this morn you said I don't have to update my sct if y'all ship to me.. Well got 2 emails i'n front of me saying it needs update.. So I'm kinda sitting i'n limbo again, maybe there's a bunch of rookies at sct! You guys suppose to be the best y'all say don't update im not..
Sorry to bump the thread back up, but on the tcm issue, i think the tcm was probably on the edge and the reflash and relearn finally pushed it.. So loading the tune and having to relearn might have pushed it over the edge so even if the dealership might have reflashed it, it probably would have done the same..
Don't update anything. If it's working correctly, just enjoy it. The firmware won't fix anything in the tuning at all, so there's no need to update at this time. We've had these devices since 08 and I'm still running the original firmware with no issues at all.
Yea man.. I have still been researching the issue, to see if maybe it was something I did wrong,. All I can think is either the truck didn't like the tuner or the tcm was just ready to go.. Im over it now man... My truck is running strong man, I love the tunes and all is good! Thks for all yalls help
