i got 6 pos chip installed yesterday... Im very happy with it!! truck runs a lot smoother.. and a lot better throttle response! I do drive quite a bit back and forth to work... another thing is i dont wanna hurt my tranny...i also have a heavy foot! thanks for the info... settings are... stock... hi idle... 50...75... 100... extreme.. ts tunes
I run mine on the one either stock setting, or the first power level (not sure what that is). I do that only because with my injectors it runs out of fuel anyways. I only turn it up more for my buddies once in awhile because they like the black smoke lol
my trans guy said he will rebuild it for 2800 and it will be able to take any kind of power i want to put to it.. i cant bring myself into spending 2800 let alone saving that much!!
When I had ts tunes I always ran on 100 over. It wasn't so much that it was running the crap out of the injectors but it was the most economical on fuel. I talked to Dave from swamps and he said without bigger injectors you might be seeing half of what they said. Ive got custom tunes now and run on race until my friends want to see some stroker smoke.
i have the same chip with the same settings. i leave mine on extreme 24/7 pretty much the only thing is when i romp on it i tend to let off the throttle at the shift points. otherwise i've had it slam into 3rd a few times
Custom tunes will make her shift way smoother. When I was running an edge evolution, it would slam into gears, and like you, I let off before each shift. Since I got custom tunes, it shifts sooooo smooth. You can put the pedal to the floor on extreme and it will shift better than stock..
Mine is all the way up as it gets the best mileage in that setting. However in a few weeks here with the stage 2's and hopefully a D66 I don't think I will be running her higher than the tow setting until I get studs and valvetrain upgrades.
I've got TW tunes and I run mine on daily most of the time and on extreme when driving long distances because like a few of you guys have said, it gives the best fuel mileage.

Neverkickin says
I always run the highest setting except when I tow, which is most of the time.

Why would you not run the hightest setting when towing...seems thats when you would want/need the power
and why/how are you getting best MPG at highest setting, HP requires fuel...
Put your truck on cruise on a highway with hills and see if the extreme or daily driver pulls you up the hills better. The daily driver tune seems to have to dig down deeper and maybe shift to a lower gear to get you up the hill. That burns more fuel. In extreme, the hill doesn't even phase the truck. You can't tell you are going up a hill. As for not towing on extreme, you will increase your egts if your pulling a heavy load..
If you don't drive like a jack leg.. A lot of people get the chip and are mad because they don't get better mileage because they are not used to the extra "get up" the truck now has. Some people like blowing a little smoke too (I'm not saying you will).. I would say 1-2 miles per gallon over daily driver depending on how you drive it.. Remember that just because one guy gets a certain result doesn't mean you will. All drivers have a different style and no two trucks are alike.
The reason I leave mine on daily most of the time is because I only have to drive maybe 2 miles to park my truck and then walk to class and theres maybe 5 stoplights in that distance so extreme is a little to peppy for getting up to maybe 25mph and then stopping at another stoplight. Now when I'm driving on the highway or when I'm back at home which is not here in Raleigh where I go to college I leave it on extreme and take off easy and it'll get better fuel mileage. But if you drive like a bat outta hell everywhere then no you wont get better fuel mileage. My advice is just get a chip and try each setting out for yourself and then you will know what works best for you.
with generic tunes i got the best fuel mlage on my tow setting (50) but with my custom tunes i run it on the 30hp tune and get 19mpg no problem. and i live in the hills haha
With my PHP tunes, the chip stays in 140 Xtreme 99% of the time.
With the automatic high idle I don't even use the HI setting any more.
In the winter I'll switch to a lower hp tune when the roads are slick.
I use the Whisper Mode at drive up windows but there was talk of incorporating the WM features in regular tunes so even that setting won't be needed.
Otherwise for me it's 140 X, even towing.
I towed 10k opounds last week (not a lot, I know) and never considered changing the chip setting. Power is awesome, just down shift when needed and took the hills at 65 no problem.
All city and Highway driving is done in 140 X. I get as good or better mileage than any other tune I've tried.
It's been said here many times that you really only should have 1 tune in your truck to suit all of your needs, and for me that's the 140 X.
No worreis here about a 165k mile stock trans either. It's all in how you drive and how you use the power.
i got a ts chip and i towed 6,100 lbs to the coast and back got 11-12 but i was kinda hard on it passing everyone put my chip on the extreme setting and i got 14.5 on a short 35 mile trip so im gonna run the extreme on a tank then try my tow setting and see best thing if you have performance injetors ive been told you'll get your best mileage running your chip on stock
No. Just driving, it should have just as much smoke as stock(none) When you lay into it it, that is a different story
