I see it , but , it is not completely out of the question that GM has finally got their schit togather and built a good truck . I don't really believe the hype that diesel power has stirred up . I have owned both Fords and GM's over the years and loved and hated certain aspects of both . I really think that they are very equally matched trucks , just depends on what kind of truck you want .
IMHO GM has had their #### together for about the last 10 years! Usen and Improving on the Same motor Can Do that If you have a Good Platform to start with,.....DMax Rocks! like it or not... If GM had a SFA i would prolly stay with them But The new motor in the 2011 has pulled me to the Dark side LOL
Fords ALWAYS had a Stronger frame!!! I can Lay under my Truck for hours after Changen the Oil LOL ,Just Laying there taking in the View from below :~)
Big deal..
Sounds like Ford is grasping for anything positive about the new truck, since they have gotten their rear ends wiped all over the road from GM.
I'm pissed.
I want to see the 6.7L as the clear performance winner as promised, and not some silly article that you can legally tow a few more pounds as if conceeding second place to GM's clearly better engine.
why is everyones attitude like this? Big f'in deal the chevy beats the ford in a drag race, its all about dependability, mileage, toughness, towing etc. I agree chevy has finally built a real truck (well except the IFS) and has a better exhaust brake, but the sheetmetal is still tinny, the allison needs to be beefed up if you add more power, the interior is still the worst out of the 3 and i think the GM trucks are ugly and i mean BUTT ugly with the GMC the better looking of the 2. Don't know about you but i didn't buy my F350 to drag race, give your head a shake and if you truly are buying it to see who gets to the next light the quickest thats what the aftermarket is for!!!
i would drive either one, i do however like a straight axel for the farm just seems to hold up better, my brother has a duramax and it does great its an 05 and i had an 01 cummins and it did great as well, i think its all just driffrent strokes for diffrent folks they are all great trucks some have better aspects than others in certin areas
GM is having some real problems with the DEF right now i love GM Trucks but i wouldn't touch one right Now!Thats the new LML Motor...
I'm making the switch to Ford,i to like the SFA and the New motor with More power is just what it took to pull me to the Dark side LOL
My Biggest issue with any of the Big three is panel fitment!!! it's hard to find a truck that the doors and fender Fit Flush and the bed aligns properly
I've looked at several new Fords and the Front right fender and the Second door on the Drivers side is sticking out about an 1/8 inch some More! for 50+ Thousand i think the Panels should be flush! they just throw these trucks together... All of them Ford ,Dodge and GM.....This is what stops me from ordering one other wise i'd have one sitting in My driveway now!
I am a loyal GM fan other than the Mustang and the Superduty. I had a early 06 4x4 Superduty f350 dually and a late 06 f250. Both ran the Innovative diesel tunes with exhaust, air filter, etc. I loved both of them, but I did not need a heavy truck by 09 and bought a GMC Denali 1/2 ton with 403HP and all wheel drive. It would run its ass off. The ford f150 was no comparison in the way it drove or ran.
A couple of months ago I needed a heavy duty truck again. I went to by a Dodge. They have a #### load of equipment for the price but they drive and ride like a Kenworth with no load, and you have to floor them to get any power at all. I then decided I would by a new Duramax. I drove them. They haul ass but they still drive and ride like a Kenworth, but much better than the Dodge. I finally drove the new ford. It also hauls ass, (maybe the Duramax is faster), but it rides and drives twice as good. The ford also had alot more room. I was sold. I bought it added a 4.5" Icon lift and some 20" wheels, 35" tires and I still love it.
It may not out run a new Chevy, but it damn sure drives and rides better. I live in the truck most days so comfort over rides drag racing for me.
How will it do with a new tune? We will find out shortly.
That my 2 cents, I do not care what the magazines say.
LOL in that article they make it sound like it can haul 10,000 more pounds then it ends up saying 400 more pounds lol wtf is 400lbs really that big of difference??
This article is just another Ford marketing piece. Who gives a flyin' F ??? This Ford vs. Chevy stuff is way old and each can buy what they want based on what they think is more important to them. I don't need a biased OEM ad, or even some test, to tell me that.
As far as powertrains are concerned, everytime I made a purchase on powertrain alone (and I've done a few), I've been disappointed a year down the road. I will never find myself saying, ' I'm shore glad that I got up this hill 5 seconds sooner, or, I'm pissed that it took me 5 sec longer....' right.
All I know is that when I have the money, and these trucks are still around, I'll buy one
Simple fact, I like fords more than a Dodge(they are ####ty trust me) and Chevy/GMC(Never had a problem with them, just never liked them, other than old ones)
We just bought 6 new Dmax Chevy's at work. They ALL are having troubles with the dpf systems and shut down. I drive an 08 dmax and it gets 7 mpg towing and 11 just driving. The cruize has quit working, the climate control system doesnt work right, we have replaced both front wheel bearings and it is just a total peice of crap. The motor runs fine and tows good but I will take a ford over it anyday. I guess if you guys need the most powerful truck go get a Junk GM truck with that tiny cheap interior and plan on replacing wheel bearings all of the time. I do know what I am talking about cause all in all I have driven over 400,000 miles in dmax towing everyday. Also the 2011s are having steering issues.
NOBODY disputes the overwhelming quality difference between the Ford and the GM. I also owned a new 2500HD between Superdutys. It was a decent truck, but not nearly on the same level as Ford. I bought it as a "gift" from my friend and local Chevy dealer in order to make me switch.
Having said all of that, I EXPECT Ford to have a more dominate engine, especially now that they have taken over total control of engine R&D and assembly.
100% of the duramax's driven by ford guys supposedly ALL have problems and are pieces of crap. How convenient/coincidental.
Ive never heard of a ford guy who drove a duramax that didnt have a problem. Yet go on a dmax forum and 99% of people couldnt be happier with them. Luck of the draw I guess. There are good ones and there are bad ones.
I prefer GM trucks and will never drive anything but GM, but im perfectly ok with admitting that Ive driven plenty of good fords that ran perfectly fine and drove nicely.
I think it happens too everybody
Just like my buddy telling me he wants to buy a toyota pickup, love the idea, hate the trucks(never buy toyota, trust me, great small trucks, but can't do freaking anything other than going into the bush). I've seen a few duramax guys who have tons of problems with them, just like there are tons of ford guys who have tons of problems with those(don't get me started on dodge) its just the type of truck you own, and how you drive it
I've seen some big DIPS drive chevys, and fords into the ground because they are just, simple, that stupid
Probably is a reason, but what makes you think you can know what that reason is or that someone else has the same purpose for his truck as the majority. I know a guy that owns a 2011 f350 Powerstroke crew cab 4x4 that has never gone off road, used the back seat, pulled anything or put anything heavier than groceries in the box. He drives it everyday. The "truck" that would make sense for him would be a Smart car - yet he just loves his SD.
...they cost a dollar...the truck costs $50000...not a very good analogy but I have heard it before...usually by a Dodge guy
Good advertising and great marketing will sell additional product. However, there comes a time when poor product reviews outweigh the sales pitch...McDonalds may not make the best cheeseburger but it is good enough to sell the most...
I think your statistics are slightly scewed.
Ford outsold Chevrolet
Ford outsold GMC
Did Ford outsell General Motors?
Just check the stats
Drive an 04 PSD F250 because I want to.
Drive the Duramax in the Chevy and GMC vans everyday, since I work at the GM factory that builds em.
BTW, I think the Duramax is very good. Just got the Ford for the reason that has been stated, the back seat has more room on my crew cab, the ride is nicer. I feel like I am in a solid truck. I like the Ford, so I bought it.
One of the Reasons Ford out sells all the others is because of Fleet price Deals,I've always heard Ford had way better Prices on it's Fleet Trucks!
When You Look at the Amount of Fleet Truck you can see why Ford out Sells all the Rest!
Me I Like Ford for all the Reasons Listed above and The SFA and Frame!
