Transfer case yoke differences between 86-97

When I did my axle swap I got a complete d60 from a 88 350. This included the front driveshaft with the double carington and the t-case yoke. However the splines were noticeably smaller. So the yoke didn't fit on my 97 tcase. Does anyone know how many different size output shafts there were?

your 97 has a different T case from the 88. I forget the model numbers.

The double cardon drive shaft requires a different yoke on the transfer case. Your '97 has a 4407 TC and the yoke can be hard to come by. Some have been able to have a 1356 TC yoke machined, some have not.

There is quite a bit of good info in these two threads, start reading :)

Re: Transfer case yoke differences between 86-97

I am fully aware the the yokes are different. I was trying to find the cut off year for when the I have was used. So maybe I could find someone who could use the.

Does the 96 F250 1356 yoke work with the F350 driveshaft or is a swap needed there?

Re: Transfer case yoke differences between 86-97

The 88 350 yoke I have is noticeably taller and I think the caps on the universal are smaller then the yoke thats on my 97 250. If my axle came from a 4407 350 the yoke would fit. When I did my swap the driveshaft only had about a inch of travel left in the spline joint. So I ground off the weld and shorted it 1.5 or 2" I forgot. Must have got lucky cause it doesn't vibrate at 65mph.

The 95 was the last year for the 1356. The '96 & '97 had the 4407.

Re: Transfer case yoke differences between 86-97

I wonder if anyone has had a double cardan joint built based upon their 250 yoke.

We have an excellent shaft shop here and they have built me several DC shafts. I have to take a shaft by there over the next couple weeks. I think I still have my 250 yoke, I'll take it with me and see what they have to say.
