Hey guys i got a poly cab mount kit from daystar for a great price.
The truck is a 2000 f250. extended cab. I have go all the cab bolts out of the mounts. and i have take the Upper nut off the front 2 radiator support mounts.
My questions are as follows.
How the heck do i separate the upper and lower sections of the factory mounts? The instructions from daystar said to use a big screwdriver to pry them apart but that did not work at all. Tried a crow bar, but still not go.
What do i do? set em on fire? haha.
Also on the radiator support mounts. How did you guys keep the mount from spinning while you undo the lower bolt from underneath?
no way in hell I'd put poly body mounts on anything other than a racecar.... rough ride vibration noise and frame flex are what the rubber is there to insulate the cab from..... poly does a piss poor job of that... of course the truck might gain just a bit of control when you are drifting through turn 7 at 90mph
just my .02 .... otherwise you just need to use more force..... hammer prybar huge pliers
Called the ford dealer. they wanted 590 $ (cad) for just the OEM rubber bushings. So that's out of the question. I am just going to go ahead and put them all on. I made sure to be putting them together so its easy to get them back apart if i drive the truck and decide i hate it.
I put poly cab bushings for my 95. Threw them in the trash 2 days later and spent the coin on OEM bushings. Poly ones didn't settle right and my doors wouldn't open without popping, cab didn't line up with the bed and it did ride crappier. The bushings are a pain to pull apart. I ended up taking a piece of sqaure tubing and drilling a hole in it and making a pully with it and some 2X4's and then pulled the bushings apart with a bolt and impact gun.
Are you talking about a body lift? if so, I know its not a ford, but i have one on my toyota 4x4 and didnt hurt the ride and the door shut, just sits up 3in higher
Original rubber is all rotted and cracked. Cab shifts in corners at speed. Makes strange creaking/groaning noises etc. Is there a site vendor here that sells rubber mount bushings, that are not a million dollars?
Find the Sunrise Ford Parts thread and get a price qoute from them. I think they cut 25% off the price.
