Does anyone know where I can get quality patch panels to repair the the rot above the rear wheels on the quarter? I cut the rot out, its not terrible, but I don't feel like making new fenders. Its mostly the fat part of the wheel arch, where the pinch weld is and grew upwards. I am making new inners as it is. I guess I could look for a new bed, but it will probably be in the same shape.
When the time comes I'm gonna do fibre glass fenders and undercoat the fenders with LineX material. Can get em with flares front and rear and looks nice if done correctly.... Fibreworx.com is one Co. I think...
Mine isn't bad enough to warrant that. My rot is limited to the flat part of the wheel opening, not the typical flare part of the wheel arch. Its the backside of the inner fender that rotted at the pinchweld. I also made patch panels for the bottoms of the front fenders.
As for now my plan is to replace just the rusted area. As far as getting to the backside. Im going to make an access panel in my inner fender well. Then replace that when Im done.
not to derail, but how hard is it to replace the whole panel? i want to replace both mine as well as 2 of the supports under the bed. have a link to the panel adhesive?
I can do 2 bed skins in a weekend. That is take the bed off the truck, Drill out the spot welds, take both sides off, glue the new skins on( the back side would already have been painted , do the repairs of small shipping dings, and get it in primer. But i have done 20 or so sides so i kinda know what i am doing
If you have more rust going on it will take longer
I have to dig thru some of my only pics for street flairs. They cover the complete "flair" of the original wheelwell. They do NOT go up any further though
