i have the trail grappler in 325/50r22 (aka 35x13) i have about 3k on mine still look brand new as well as they just look really good, they ride good and arent too noisey but you can hear em.my buddy has same tire in 35x12.50r20 he likes his a lot too as far as i know. i would recommend either the trail grappler or the toyo open country m/t. wonder what the poor people are posting about? lol
I was looking to get a set of trail grappler at's in 295/70/18 but when price shopping on the web i came across these reviews on the tires and now am thinking about going in another direction. All the people with 3/4 tons and up trucks couldn't get any mileage out of them , and for over $200 a tire you should be able to get 40-50,000 out of them . Tire Reviews - Discount Tire Direct
Im running 325/60/18 and im not very impressed with them. 10k miles so far of heavy towing, gravel roads, and highway. I'd be lucky to get 15-18k out of them. My price was 270 a tire and it gets old buying tires.
Wow seems the consensus is that they wear fast, which to me means not worth the money. I've been looking around a lot. I also considered the kumho KL71s or firestone destination MTs.. Any thoughts on those? I have read a ton of good stuff about the firestones and they are easybto get ahold of.
i had 315/75r16 (35x12.50) toyo mts on my 06 duramax and beat the snot outta them for 60k and loved them. they had 10k on em when i bought the truck. so after 70k of mudding, sled pulling, drag racing, burnouts and whatever the fronts had 1/8th inch tread and the centers on the rear were bald. id buy em again but i want wider tires
A LOT of guys in oilfield around here run the firestones, ive heard the do decent on mileage for the money. I think they just look bland though... I've had 2 sets of BFG KM2s. got 40k+ out of them in a 35, they did great in mud and snow, and very good ride and quite. just my .2
I got the trail grapplers and they only make a slight noise around 80 mph I have around 5 thousand on them and they look brand new. I got a very good price from rims one I have 35 x 11.5 x 18
Ive ran 37 KM2s and am currently running the toyo open country mts. I would ighly recommend either of these. the toyos seem quiter and and ride smoother but the km2s arent far behind. As mentioned I would stay away from nitto for anything over a half ton. Im sitting in the shop now looking at some bald mud grapplers with 16k on them
I know that Toyo makes the tires for Nitto but how are the Toyo's for wear. I was going to go with Nittos in 295/70/18 but not now since the wear issues they have . I now have found what i think is a great deal on Toyo's , a little bigger than the Nittos but for the same money . TOYO Open Country AT LT285 75R18 129S E10 BLK @ TiresDirect.Net
My buddy has a set on his 04 DMAX and they are pretty quiet but you can still hear them. I think alot of guys are confusing the terra grappler with the trail grappler....
Yeah, i think half the posts in this thread are about the terra grappler and the others about the trail grappler. OP...do you mean the terra grappler or the trail grappler? The terra grappler is the one that seems to be having the tread life issues. Reviews of the trail grappler on discount tire direct are pretty good.
either way, i would stay away from the terra grappler. I am either going to get the toyo a/t or the trail grappler.
I just bought a set of 35x12.50r20 Trail Grapplers and I like the way they ride and look. They r also 10 ply (E rated). They r definitely a lot louder than my stock Good Year tires, but they dont seem that bad. I just pulled my 6x12 trailer 650 miles with my harley in it and averaged about 13.5 mpg with cruise set on 75 mph.
I'm on my second set of 35/12.50X18 Trail Grapplers. My truck runs about 10K pounds all the time except when pulling a gooseneck which is about 30% of the time. I live and work construction in Norcal and run almost exclusively on twisty coastal hiways and forest service roads. I rotate every 5K and got 33K miles on my last set. I'm really impressed with the beating these tire take off road with a heavy load. Never had a flat, which says a lot if you saw where I work.
They were about $60 less per tire than Toyo MT's
