I just put a new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and flywheel in almost 3 weeks ago and i have only put about 1500 miles on them. Its a Kevlar/ Ceramic from Valair and before today its been great. I drove to work this morning to work, no problems at all. Went out and fired the truck up at lunch with no problem. Got off at 5 tonight and ran out real quick and fired it up with no problem, and let it warm up for prolly 5-10 min. went back out to take off and pushed the clutch in and couldnt shift into gear, the pedal was kind of "sticky" and wasnt real responsive. went and checked the fluid level and it looked good and hopped under the truck and pulled the slave cylinder out and checked to see if it was ok and it seemed to be. got back in the truck and the pedal was the same. a couple of guys i work with came out and i talked to them about it for a couple of minuets and the only thing the one guy could think of was the master cylinder. I then hopped back in and just tried to shift and when i pressed on the clutch pedal it was hard and when i pushed it a little bit there was a screeching sound so i just released and reved up the rpms and caught a gear and just went that way. When i was driving though it i got on the gas a little bit it felt like something was slipping and my rpms would shoot up but right when i let the rpms back down it would grab hold. I am lost and dont know where to start with this but really need the truck for work next week. Is this the master cylinder?

see why would the pedal be all soft and then not even really move? when i pulled the slave cylinder out i reached my fingers in there just to check to see if the clutch fork would move and it did, only forward and back though
Ya mine didn't move at all. Maybe it is the master cylinder. Did you check where the master cylinder connects to the pedal and see if there's anything going on there
no i havent. its about 9 degrees out right now and was about 15 when i got home so i didnt feel like playing around in the cold for very long. il check that tomarro but i was just wondering if this had happened to anybody else
Ya I know how it is I had to do starter on my truck the other day and it was -6 with wind chill. But hopefully its the master and not the fingers on your pressure plate. But it sounds like a hydraulic problem
see i dont think it could be anything withe clutch "assembly". i mean it only has 1500 miles on all those brand new parts and i wounldnt think something would happen that quick. Any idea how to switch out the master cylinder and maybe a price?
I think I got mine for 160 but its real easy I pulled my air box it made it easier. just make sure you bleed it real good. everything else you can figure it out if you look at it for a minute
well i pulled the whole "system out when i did it just to make sure that everything was good. I got the new master cylinder and put it in and made sure to bleed everything really good and put it all back in and now the pedal will spring for ward and hit the floor like it was before. I had my brother push the pedal and i held the slave cylinder to see if it was moving and nothing. I "pumped" the slave cylinder to make sure there wasnt any air bubbles in it and the only thing that came back up in the reservoir was fluid. Any ideas?
