Here`s the truck:

03 F-350 Dually CC 4X4.
7.3,6-speed,4.10,unlimited slip in the rear.

Would changing out the factory 4.10s to 3.73 be a good move?

I`m looking to lower rpms on the highway, but will the 3.73s still be good for towing?

I plan on installing a Tru-Trac in the rear, and I might as well do everything at once while I`m in there.I do know that I have to change the front ring and pinion also.

Thanks for any input;well appreciated!

Mark.

Depends how heavy you're towing...

Because you have a 6 speed it will probably be fine.
I wish my auto had 4:10 for towing.

I dont understand the reasoning for goin to 3:73 What are you trying to accomplish? Better fuel milage? My 2000 SCDRW 7.3 6 speed got 17MPG w 3:73s And that was the cruise set at 65MPH and getting passed like i was standing still. I wish i had 4:10s for when i did tow. the 3:73s were not low enough when starting on a hill w a trailer even in LOW

I was looking for better mileage, but it looks like your not getting it with the 3.73s.Definitly not worth the cash to change over.I`ll just do the Tru-Trac,and be done with it.

Thanks for the replies.
