Took it to a guru for some healthy mods, EGR delete and head studs. Also fixing some oil leaks so it was just easier to lay her heart on the table I guess, LOL! Didn't realize that was happening so when I went back to the guys shop to get my sunglasses I had left in the truck I was surprised to see this sitting out front...
Got it back today, almost passed out when I got the bill! There was a lot done though, Head studs, egr delete, oil cooler, Heads were slightly warped so had them resurfaced, all new idler pulleys, new u-joints on the rear driveshaft, steering linkages, turned the brake rotors and got a new fuel level sending unit assembly because mine was sucking air when it got to about 1/4 tank. The list is a mile long but these are the main points. I always said I was doing this to keep her.....no doubt about it now....OUCH!!!
Just looked around a little before deciding that's the one I liked, tell me WHY, not just that that's the one I should've gotten but tell me why, I'm not into cranking it up till' the tailpipe turns red, just want some when some's needed. :ford:
Well, that was a long night of reading.....now I see why! Should'a done the research BEFORE I guess but sometimes I get in a little bit of a hurry, no harm done, Thoroughbred Is great about returns and said no problem.
Got my pipe yesterday, 4" turbo back Aluminized with a stainless tip, I may take the tip off as it sticks out a little farther than I'd like. Sounds really good but not obnoxious. Waiting on the cold air intake. Tuner showed up yesterday so I'll probably go ahead and put it in there to see how it's going to look and play around with it, not gonna tune anything until the intakes on though.
Yes I was talking to the exhaust guy when I went back over with a trailer today to pick up my old exhaust and he said he would do whatever I wanted to make it look like I wanted anytime I'm ready, so I'll run it a little and see. Probably end up having him trim it back a few inches for sure because during irrigation season this truck goes up and down some pretty nasty field roads and I'm afraid if I backed up while in a deep rut it would gather a mouthful of mud sticking out there like that! LOL, haven't had time today but tuner going on tomorrow.
Got the Cold air intake on the other day and installed the SCT TSX Tuner, Played with the generic tune VERY briefly but then put it back to stock until my custom tunes from Eric at innovative diesel get here, they should show up anytime now.....
I sure did, there was some kind of mix up and he thought he had sent them a week earlier? Anyway I got them and have only run the "street" tune as of now but WOW! That's all I can say! It's amazing when a truck loaded down with toolboxes, compressor etc. and weighs in at 8,600 lbs. can burn rubber. Has great driveability too, actually you would never know it's tuned until pushing the throttle a little over half......and then hang on as it pushes you back in the seat! :ford:
