if your lucky there is a sticker under your hood , if rear hasnt been changed .
chalk marks on tire and drive shaft spin the tire and count ...almost 4 prob 3.73 over 4 but not much 4.10, 41/2 4.55 etc..
Is it specifically listed on the door tag? The only thing I saw that may be it was above the word "axle" on the door tag it said RC 41... this probably doesnt mean anything. There may have been a tag on the diff at one point but 157K miles takes its toll..
the axle code on the sticker is correct. and ford would be able to tell you. i havent been able to find the codes on the internet unless it was a obs truck.
heres mine. D1
but the best way is to look at the tag on the diff
Where your door tag says D1, mine is blank... how do you decipher the axle tag? If i posted the numbers/letters would that be enough? I think the RC 41 means Regular Cab, and then the 41 is just a factory number.
if the axle code is blank, wheres 41 located on that sticker?
mine says 3L73. means limited slip 3.73. if it wasnt a limited slip, the letter L would not be ther and look like this 3 73 with a space. The 10 5 is the sterling 10.5" and the rest i dunno or remeber what they mean.
I could REALLY be wrong here, but I think with your engine, and the year, the only axle Ford put on a stroker, F250, was a 3:73. Seems that was the only axle available on mine with limited slip. Then again, mine's an '01.
No idea man, bockhold seems to know what he is talking about so im taking him at his word. The door is really confusing to me, I would stick with the tag on the diff case. Maybe there is something I am missing on the door, but ive given it two looks and cant find anything that relates to the axle

My '97 OBS had 3:55, 5.8 engine. The SD's had different parameters. But I for one will guarantee an SD, 4X4, with a stroker, SRW, F250/350, '99 and at least to '01, had 3:73's from the FACTORY. It was the ONLY ratio offered to the general public.. Been der, dun dat.
Apples to apples, oranges to oranges.
You could get 3.55's with a PSD too. I ordered a new 97, 99, and 00. A friend of mine was fleet sales manager at a local dealerships. He let me write my own orders. If a 4.10 had been available in a 2000, I would have one.
The infinite wisdom of Ford. I asked that myself, all I got was a song and a dance.Something about the amount of torque and horsepower is what I was told. What the guy said made little sense to me. It really didn't matter, I wanted the truck and knew what it would do. It would be interesting to get an answer though.
