I have a 2000 250 4x4 with significantly settled springs, I feel like Im down to a passenger car height So I am in need of new shocks and have been pondering a lift or leveling kit, but dont need/want crazy height. How should I approach this as I want to replace the springs and shocks front and rear and it seems most leveling kits only address the front. Four inches total is what im looking for, but in reality that would make a 4" kit the equivelent of a 6" or so once the truck is brought back to stock height, if that makes sense.
Now that I have completely confused everyone, what's your take.
I have been doing some research and found Stock Ride Height Specs. I took some measurements and this is what I have found.
My truck is fairly loaded at all times between a toolbox, multiple tools for work, dual sub box, and my 267LBS.
23" from center of hub to bottom of front fender wheel well
24" from center of hub to bottom of rear fender wheel well
76" from ground to roof
It seems to me I am sitting a little low, yes I am aware I have quite a static load on truck but when Im pulled up next to what appear to be stock height trucks I feel low compared to them.
I think I am going to go with an ICON 4" spring system with Bilstein 5100s
The Icon 4" springs ride great, and you can't go wrong with Billies.
The rear is a little harder. The shortest Icon spring is 5". I have that spring with a 1" block and my truck sits just a tiny bit tail high matched with my front 4" springs and 3" hanger/shackles. Now, if you are loaded most of the time, the 2" ass high might become less pronounced. Deaver might make a 4" leaf pack if you ask nicely. Or you might be stuck with stock springs and a matching block.
You could get some V codes from the salvage yard and then add a 3" hanger lift from Icon. You should be able to get some low miles leafs form a salvage yard. The hanger kit and then get blocks in the rear to level it out. If the rears are also low pick up a set of B or F code while at the salvage yard. Then you can add then add a block to level it. If you are sitting 1.5-2" low now it will put you 4-5" up from there. You will get a better ride. you also can not go wrong with ICON springs either. They are made by Deaver have more travel and lifetime no-sag warranty. They will put you up about 5.5 to 6 from your current height.
I agree that Icon leaf springs are a very nice option.
However, they are no longer made by Deaver....and haven't been for a few years. They are still made in the USA and are still backed by a lifetime warranty.
I highly recomend Icon products, I ran a 6inch kit for 4 years with a great ride. Last year i went with a 8inch and it still rides great. TruckToyz did all the work I consider :bowfast:Marty and those guys great when it comes to technical advise and support.
Well someone is misinformed you or KLM. But either way I know I would not be to happy thinking I was getting Deaver and find out its some unnamed company. Which usually translates to mean a company with a lesser rep than what they use to use. After all Dylan had no issue openly stating Edelbrock is the one manufacturing their ICON labeled shocks as all the supply issue with Blistien. Sure there are sometimes contractual reason but that is usually when you are dealing with discounted products not top end premium products. Right or wrong their is perceived value in brand names and its irregardless of any diff in performance. You do not mind paying a higher rate than many others when you know the product you are getting is coming a from a company where those prices match up. I know you likely understand but to be clear this has nothing to do with actual real world performance.
3-4500-99 4" Suspension System 1999-2004 F250-350 4WD
Icon Vehicle Dynamics's 4" system provides great off-road performance, using the same technology that the company uses on its off-road race trucks, and allows clearance for 35x12.5R16 tires.
Icon Vehicle Dynamics starts with 100% American-made Deaver Springs that have a lifetime guarantee against sagging.
Next, Icon Vehicle Dynamics adds its box kit which helps retain factory steering geometry.
Add a set of shocks and this system is unparalleled in ride quality.
I will double check that something has not suddenly changed.....because unless something has, Deaver does not make their springs.
Still American made, built to Icon's specs and have a lifetime warranty.
If I remember correctly.....back when it was Donahoe Racing is when they switched away from Deaver Springs and began with the current company. Who they continued to use when they went under new ownership as Icon Vehicle Dynamics. This is nothing new, the switch took place years ago.
Personally, I have been dealing with the guys at Icon (formerly DR) for the last 7+ years, which is longer than some vendors have been selling their products
good point and this is in no way questioning the perf of their product. It only bothers me they are not saying who makes it. I would still end up with there springs as everything is made to the same spec. The only area I would think there could be a dif would be in the quality of the base metal the leafs are made of.
So in your opinion these leafs have exactly the same perf as the Deavers did? Same amount of travel, same rate of progression and durability?
They made a few changes to the design when they became the private labeled Icon springs. Subtle changes, nothing major. Still a great ride and travel and a lifetime warranty compared to other mass produced springs on the market.
It isn't uncommon for companies not to divulge who makes their private labeled parts.
Oh I 100% know its not uncommon and from working in the firearms and muntions manf business I also know the various reasons why they do not. In this case I can almost assuredly know why they do not say.
It is a bit amusing that KLM has that up on their site, which honestly looks like its the ICON home site the way its setup and the address. They are suppose to be the east coats main dist for ICON IIRC. Guess I will shoot them a email. May have just been some bad cut and pasting that did not get caught by marketing and tech guys..
Yeh if you do a Google search for ICON it is one of the very top hits. They have someone that understands search engine ratings etc that created and bought domain names etc.. If you look at the actual hyperlink for the picture I posted of the kit you will see it ends in a Donahoe named pic.
But I am not sure on the leafs showing as coming from Deaver either. Seeing how its one of the top hits and it has Icon as the domain name many people are going to take that as fact. I sure did. From that I have been spreading bad info this whole time until this thread where you corrected me. Not to mention if you buy something and you would have no reason to think it wasn't from Deaver as it has all the specs the Deaver leaf packs carry.
