I know the older F450s "Superdutys" had the Dana 80. But isn't that the same thing that Dodge puts on the Ram 3500? If that's the case, you could even get 3.54 gears.
I guess I've been looking at too many F450-F550s & want one of those big square axles. Kinda hoping they offered them with 4.10s so it's not screaming down the road. Oh well.....
The Dana 135 has 4:88 gears and the BRAND NEW Spicer S110L has 4:30's in it.
By the way the 135 will be for sale.
To change from low gears like th 4:88 to anything lower there has to be a new cage installed in place with the newer gears. ITs gets VERY expensive quickly.
I put a lot of miles on the truck, and to be honest I wish it was a little leggier.
It drives about like a 350 with 4.10s, I guess because the 19.5's are a hair taller than standard 350 tires. It has more than enough grunt and doesn't turn outrageous rpm's. My buddy has 4.88's in his and they suck.
His truck will rip the azzhole out of an elephant, but with a standard cab and short wheelbase, his truck will pull the front wheels off the ground before he can get enough weight on the wheel lift to make the motor struggle.
I would run some 3.73s in mine if somebody made them.
