I was driving all day today with No Problems. Stopped by the Tackle Shop before heading home. No wierd Noises, No Vibrations, Nothing..... Started it up about 2-3hrs later to head to work I noticed some wierd ilding noise. Not sure how to explain it. Sounded more like a REAL Diesel then got quiter. didnt think much of it until I was driving up the Drawbridge and notice it downshifted from 6th to 4th up it. Normaly it gets over fine in 6th.
Check your oil and water for proper Level and take it to the dealer ASAP
It's under warranty so No Big deal!
These new trucks are gonna have a Couple of Issues,The main Reason i'm waiting till after the first of the year.....Giving them time to work them out,I want going BACK to Ford to be a Plus not a Minus
Keep an Eye on your gauges! Don't let it over heat!Watch Your Pressures for a drop.....if it does ,Stop and call dealer! they will foot the Bill i'm sure, if it happens!
OK. I just got home from work, and the trucks is fine now. Turbo spools up and drives great. Im still gunna take it in. Dont wanna have this problem towing 12k lbs next week.
Ours are not supposed to loose as much as the 6.4L does. The 6.7 only uses one bank to regen..... not all 8 cylinders.
But, does it loose power? Probably, though not as much as it seems yours did....
Turbo's are terrible creatures, I have the 2011 Turbo Diesel, and a 2005 Turbo mustang that makes more HP an TQ then my truck does! There are so many things that can go wrong whenever you get away from the basics i.e. the new turbo in the SD, you are going to have little manufacturing details to work out. I think that Ford should've kept it simple, but you know Ford, always trying to re-invent the wheel. The new turbos on these trucks are going to have to go through some real world R&D, I know Ford did extensive testing but unfortunately it is impossible to really work out every bug, us first year owners are going to help Ford work out all the bugs. I think that is part of the reason the company is being so proactive when it comes to resolving these issues. This will be a great truck, it will just take a year to get there. But we were all too impatient to wait and had to have it now, so think of it as the oportunity to put in your $.2 for Ford. We are all helping them create another legend like the 7.3L was! Good luck, Ford will make it right.
mine done the same thing several times look at your turbo gauge mine was maxed out while doing it. took it to dealer and they found nothing. after i got the upgrade it hasnt done it again hopefully it wont. turn it off when it does it and turn it back on and it resets it. did mine anyway
I hate to bump an old thread like this, but my 2011 with 28,8xx miles on it just did this today. Idled for about 20-25 minutes at the harley dealer today... went to leave and no boost - drove straight to the dealer. We'll see.
I believe Ford has released an updated turbo with the proper fixes. Make sure if your dealer does diagnose it as a turbo problem, that they replace the entire updated unit.
Friends of ours 2012 popped the turbo before the first oil change. Truck now has 30K+ on it, but still believe there is something wrong with it when compared to what people on here say they are getting for fuel mileage. His gas engine F250 gets the same mileage when towing the same load.
Mine did this yesterday. Drove is 40 miles home from work, stopped at grocery store, and when I left it had no boost. I could still hear the turbo through the exhaust, but it would not build any boost. Turned it off and re-started...no problems...However, it did sound like an old fashion diesel during the no boost time....Id be interested to see what the problem was/fix is...
Old thread but helpful. I have a 2012 F250, the turbo sometimes just wont boost. Shut off when waiting for traffic light and restart, everything went normal. Happens every week. Very annoying when you need the power. Went to dealer, no code, found nothing.
After reading all the threads, still didn't get a solution? Anyone knows the cure?
