school me on dana 80's how do I identify them and what did they come in? also how much stronger are they then the steerling rearends? I have been through 2 sets of gears in my puller with my 10.25 rearend this year and I am ready for an upgrade if its worth it.
I have an 87 f350 dually and an 91 f450 dually sitting here is there any chance one of those whould have an 80 in them?

IIRC 2000 and up duallies all have them. Not sure about the rest. They are a lot stronger and are one heavy rear end.

Pre-97 F-Superdutys (450) came with 10 lug Dana 80s with 4.68 or 5.13 gears & disc brakes.

pre-97 F350 duallys came with 10.25s

94-02 3500 Dodge duallys came with Dana 80s, disc brakes on the 01+? 3.55 or 4.10 gears 8x6.5 lug pattern

99+ Ford F350 duallys came with Dana 80s with 8x170mm lug pattern 3.73 or 4.10 gears

99-04 F450s came with Dana 80s with 4.88 gears

99+ E350-E450 vans came with Dana 80s with 4.10s & ? they also had 8x6.5 lug [pattern

cool thanks, that means I do have one in the 91 450 but I just have to find some hubs for it.

out of curiosity do you know when did they start useing the steerlings?

and what is a good way to identify the d80's

well the 450 definatly has a dana 80 in it but the 87 350 looks to have a steerling in it.

thanks for the help!

fyi,You don't want to break a yoke on one of them dana 80's.My buddy just broke his yoke and its $186 for a new yoke.Bad idea to do holeshots with 38's,8in lift, blocks stacked and no traction bars.
