DIY LF777 Oil Bypass Installed.

I installed my DIY LF777 oil bypass filter today. The filters get down to 3-5 micron and are 15.00 at Napa when they are on sale. This filter added 2 qts to the system. One of the fittings on the return side I tapped and installed a set screw in and then drilled a hole in the set screw with a 1/16 drill bit to serve as a oriface. I used 5/16 tranny hose that is rated at 400 psi and push lock fittings. I think I have about 75.00 in this setup.

That is all the pictures i took. Feed line comes off of the 1/8 plug on the oil filter header, return was hooked up to one of the plugs on the side of the engine.

I did a bunch of reading and come up with this contraption, I did another years ago with info I got on TDS, people have been using this filter for a long time.

Different filter but good write up....I am going to replace my Amsoil bypass with this set up(B164) when I change me oil. 15 absolute, 1-2 nominal and like 8 bucks a pop.

Re: DIY LF777 Oil Bypass Installed.

Great job. I really love seeing people make their own stuff. I think you always take more pride in something when you have had a hand in building it. "Built Not Bought" as they say.

I have installed one bypass based on the Luber Finer ZGard and am installing one with their largest one on my current Xcursion. Between the Luber Finer bypass and the primary full flow filter I use total capacity will be 20 quarts or 5 gallons +25% over stock. With the bypass lines and dual stealths HPOP and extend res etc it will likely be closer to 21-22 quarts I am thinking. We will see. The primary full flow filters down to 10 mic@99.99% and 4 mics @ 75% first pass. the Luber Finer bypass is 2-3 absolute and even lower at nominal.
