OK guys, It seems its my time to vent alittle after a few stressful days with my 6.7L.
This week I have gotten over 6Regen's. All of them not being FULLY Completed.
Drove about 300 mi roundtrip on Sunday. 5 mi from the house a get the message " Cleaning Exhuast Filter":evil There's noway its gunna finish in 5mins. SO I get another Regen Monday that too was when I was already at my destination(25mi drive), then again today on the way to work it kicks in when im almost arriving at my destination. It just doesnt seem logical I didnt get a Regen driving to Fort Myers for a 300mi trip, but I get one 5mins form the house.
Anyone else getting Regen after Regen? I am seriously considering a DPF Delete in the near future if this keeps up. Is it safe to shut it down while in a regen? I can almost cook a burger on the side panels of the truck.
Same chit happens to me in my 6.4 time after time. Anymore when it occurs, I just keep driving if I'm not going to work and let it finish. It's just easier. What a waste in the name of saving the planet. Ford really should, for those drivers intelligent enough to know that they have a good drive ahead of them, allow a regeneration request. I think this is available on larger trucks.
I try to keep driving to finish the Regen but I dont usually have all that time on my hands....I guess im gunna have to live through it fora few years until warranty expires:doh:
LOL! As a current 6.0 owner, I would challenge that there is nothing positive about owning a 6.0! I was able to fool myself for a few years, but common sense finally took over. I guess plugged up EGR valves, failed oil & EGR coolers and blown headgaskets are better than that pesky regeneration. oke:
All I can say is, blame California and the Government for all the emissions related problems. Could you imagine how long, and how well Ford could make their engines run if they weren't so locked down with BS emissions equipment. Let's face it, the majority of problems which plague both the 6.0, and 6.4 relate back to this crap. It just makes me so angry to think about.
Whats a big deal anyway! I missed most of my regens....I really don't care and not worry about it,just let it do its things when it want to. Heck ,I have 4700 mi and I saw only 3 regens ...!!

Regen request would be nice, but do you have any proof to back up that job 2 trucks will have that? If so I would think yes job 1 would get a reflash or they would have incorporated it into the 400/800 flash. I personally don't see it happening, but I have been wrong before.
Ok should have included this yesterday. Credit has to be given to HARLEY6LF250SDU (Randy) on another forum. I highlighted it in red.

The diesel particulate filter monitor is enabled and runs continuously when certain base engine conditions are first satisfied. The typical monitoring duration for this monitor is 90 seconds. Inputs from the crankshaft position (CKP), engine coolant temperature (ECT), exhaust gas temperature (EGT), and diesel particulate filter pressure sensors are required to enable the monitor. The monitor entry conditions include:
diesel particulate filter regeneration is inactive
time from last diesel particulate filter regeneration is greater than 300 seconds
exhaust flow between 400 - 2,400 m3/hour (14,126 - 84,755 ft3/hour)
no fuel injector concerns
Have to get into the computer to change the parameters and it will stop.
2011 PCED said:
Diesel particulates in the exhaust are trapped by the diesel particulate filter. Regeneration is the process by which the exhaust gas temperatures are increased, the higher exhaust temperatures burn off the particulates in the filter. The frequency and length of regeneration events fluctuate while both factors are determined by the vehicle drive cycle, ambient temperature, vehicle loading and the vehicle operator driving style. Under normal driving conditions, regeneration frequency varies from 161-670 km (100-500 miles) between each occurrence. The duration of a normal regeneration event varies between 10 and 40 minutes. The first regeneration on a new vehicle may not require 161 Km (100 miles), it may occur at any time. The duration of a regeneration event may be reduced if a constant speed above 48 km/h (30 mph) is maintained. Driving at lower speeds and stop and go conditions may result in longer duration times for a regeneration event to successfully complete.
During normal vehicle operation the PCM estimates the amount of particulates that accumulate in the diesel particulate filter. The estimated amount of particulates is based on a number of different vehicle operating conditions, including vehicle speed, engine run time, and load. Additionally the PCM monitors the following:
battery voltage
distance traveled since the last diesel particulate filter regeneration
engine coolant temperature (ECT)
engine speed
exhaust gas temperature bank 1, sensor 1 (EGT11)
exhaust gas temperature bank 1, sensor 2 (EGT12)
exhaust gas temperature bank 1, sensor 3 (EGT13)
exhaust gas temperature bank 1, sensor 4 (EGT14)
fuel level
fuel temperature
intake air temperature (IAT)
turbocharger condition
Is it SOLELY a software thing? If so we need to push to get it added to the Job 1 trucks!
I would guess if it's a driver controlled thing. It would show up in the driver information station. It doesn't on mine, so it's not included in the 400/800 flash.
I haven't had a regen in over 3 years, and I won't buy a new 6.7L until KEM has a complete delete tune ready to e-mail to my downloader.
I know most of you guys will frown upon a delete mod tied to your expensive engine, but not me.
Eventhough a regen command switch will make things a little easier, there is nothing like the gains in power and mileage to be had when the DPF hits the rafters.
I don't know about you all deleting this and that but....I love the fact that I can no longer smell the exaust and there are no black stuff on my garage floor......oke:
Lol
If your driving in town, it won't finish the regen I don't think. If your on the highway it's only a matter of 5 minutes or so IIRC. The only way to tell if it's done is to watch the fuel mileage, it drops when it's doing the Regen. (Not as much as the 6.4s because we only use one bank to regen.)
It depens on how and what type of driving you are doing! I think it'll regen more often if you are mostly in a stop and go traffic.I'm mostly on a highway and I might see 2-3 regens in one tank(610 mi)
If you get good amount of load on the motor you wont see any regen's. I can remember when I was towing my boat(12k) back and forth between the dealer and the ramp trying to get a few bugs worked out I didnt see a regen for over a week(almost 400mi)

Just wait a little longer and you'll have females to shower with; heterosexuals will have rights too. I still think the Armed Forces should give ****'s their own divisions. Can you just imagine a group of *****'s going into battle and all on the rag?? Those dudes wouldn't stand a chance. Also if the **** division was told they could pecker check all of the captured enemy for diseases, they would conquer the taliban in a couple of weeks.
Its also how and where you drive it, you get better passive regen on the highway or long up hill runs, if you keep the EGT high by the way you drive for extended periods you are burning out the filter. Never as good as a regen but it will extend the time between regens. Took it about 900mi from north of Denver to Santa Fe, so some hills, with only one regen, but a couple times I have had days where I drive it two or three times less than 20mi each trip with time for the engine to cool off between and I am I lucky to get 200mi between regen's. i think it will finish if you let the truck idle, I have had it come on and not finish when I got home so I let the truck idle to cool and it seemed to keep regen going, and did not get another one for 300+mi.
I have a little over 1300 miles now, and have yet to notice a regen. About 400 miles of that has been towing, and most all has been mountainous driving except for maybe 150 miles at lower elevation, so maybe that's why.
I have done a number of remote starts and letting the truck idle for 5-15 minutes in cold weather before taking off. Just figured I'd see at least one regen so far, but if my driving means they will be few and far between, I'm not complaining.
my first regen was at 400 miles. I usually have one a tank sometimes i can go one tank without one.
