Rear brakes just blew up ????

My ABS light came on as I was coming home from a long trip last weekend.

Now the left rear brake makes a noise when I put the brakes on and the right rear is smoking when I park the truck after driving it.

The brake pedal feels soft too.

Is all this related ?

I am going to tear it apart in a few minutes.

Thanks

One of the pads came off the backing plate that holds them in place. Pad got jammed between the caliper and the rotor. I need a new rotor and some brake pads.

I replaced both rotors with ATE Premium grooved units and put on Wagner Extreme brake pads.

$350 for parts. $125 x 2 + $87 + misc.

It took less than 2 hours to change. Hardest part was driving the pistons back into the caliper body. 2 x 6" C clamps did the trick.

These trucks are dead simple to work on.

Ya they're pretty easy to work on compared to a lot of cars out there.
