Ok did searching not finding what I'm looking for. Can I pull the dust deal off the knuckle and pull the axle shaft CV thing threw it or do I have to pull the hole knuckle apart at the ball joints? I pulled my wheel bearing last night and the seal in the knuckle is trashed and the one on the axle tube looks crappy to, I bought both at ford just dont know how to install them.
The one that goes in the knuckle is on the short outer axle shaft aka stub shaft. You will need something to be able to press that big seal onto the shaft....there is a specific tool for that or quite a few people have made their own.
I got it all apart and used an air hammer to work the seal off, I have to go to ford in the AM so I'm going to bring the stub shaft and the seal with me and see if one of the techs will help me.
Here is what I used when I had the pleasure of doing mine. Double check clearances when putting it all back together with regards to the grease fittings.
