I cant find any information on here about wheel spacers. Im looking into putting some on my truck when someone told me that it would be bad on the wheel bearings I kind of paniced a little bit. LOL Not sure if that is true or not any thoughts. Is there any other problems i may be risking running them. And where do i purchase a good quality set at. Thanks in advance.
Its an 01 Rob,he can't.The 05 and up had the wider axle so you actually could do what you wanted with wheels.Hard to find one with 2.5in back space.
The the OP,Trucktozperformance has some nice ones that I will be purchasing myself to get the stance I want. They are 2in and steel I believe. They area sponser here also. There Not the alluminum that has had some problems with studs pulling out.
They will put more strain on your wheel bearings. How much more exactly and how much it will shorten the life of them is unknown.Might go years or months just depends on the condition of them now.Heat is what kills them so unless you drive high speed all the time I think they will last awhile.Every bearing I have changed for someone they died on them on the highway.
Yes they are (expensive) and when i ordered the newer set i have on there now (almost a year ago) i didnt pay much attension to the offset. They rub a little bit but i want to get rid of the rubbing all together and now that i have fender flares i kinda want to fill those out again. Im just worried that what my buddy told about the wheel bearings is true. And i cant seem to find a vendor on here with them. I looked through half of them last night.
I wondered that also.It says 40lb's total and I don't know that each ones weighs 20lb's.10lb's seems more reasonable so I would say 4 but you would have to check with them.
to add to that I believe the load carrying capacity is over 4000lb's more on a dana 80 over a 10.5.I would imagine the bearings can handel it on a dana 80.But as stated, they don't make a wheel with the right offset for the 99-04 trucks.
Ive been running aluminum hubcentric 2.5s all the way around on my F250 for over a year now. To mount up 08 20 inch wheels. I pull over 12k daily, and have pulled around 22k. Not a problem. Acually just put new tires on yesterday, and inspected them. No issues.
been running hubcentric spacers from wheeladapter.com. They are on my dually front and rear. had them on for over 100k so far with no issues. I haul 7-10k on a regular basis.
Should be around $100 if not more per corner if you go threw tire shops or specialty shops that make them. Got mine off ebay for $145 for the pair. Just make sure they are made in USA if you look on ebay.
A thief stole my truck and drove it through a construction site hard enough to knock the front end out of alignment and break the bead on the tire and bend the lip of a Ford OEM 20 inch rim. The spacers held up fine. No issues whatsoever.
I have a set and have been waiting to put them on. I just want it for a little more balance. I have after market rims already. Have those running them had any extra problems with hubs and bearings?
I used mine with wheels that had needed the spacers to get the correct factory offset. So the hubs didn't know the difference from running stock wheels.
We have Billet spacers, hub and wheel centric custom made in the US from Alcoa 6061t6 billet aluminum.
PM me if I can help.
Cary
