I'm pissed as hell, here's the deal. Waited 8 weeks for my order, dealer called and said my new 2011 F250 just arrived, great news right? Stopped by after work to check it out and found a quarter size dent along with scratches down to the metal on the hood above the headlight. Looks to me like it was caused by chains during transit. Dealership wants to send it to the body shop and get it "patched". I'm sorry but if I'm gonna spend $55K on a truck I don't think I want "patched". I need some opinions, should I have the hood repaired or demand a new one? I'm concerned about how it will look 5 years down the road when the body repair starts to show. DAMN!!!!!:
P.S. I've been a GM man all my live and recently decided to go Ford. Right now I wonder...vent, vent.
let them deal with the repainting and body work, so you dont have to worry about having to go back to them in a year or 2 and question them about flaking paint and etc.
:whs: they prolly had $ left on the table for that price and there's the claim... if it was done during transit the contractor (Ford or shipping agent) will have ins for just this type of deal. Out of 55k tell them you want a check for 20k and will do the repairs yourself. That will alow you to get it done right. The won't accept that offer but might 15k, make your 1st offer crazy so they know you're pissed!
Dishing out that kind of coin, I would demand a new hood or truck. There is no reason you should have to put up with something like that with the amount of money you're spending.
Hey thanks for all the comments and recomendations. I am really pissed and don't know what I'm gonna do right now. I definitely don't want it repaired but I really don't want to wait another 8 weeks for a new one. Do you really think with such fresh paint that there will be a problem with the color on a new hood matching? It's not like it's old faded paint on the rest of the truck. Proper hood alignment on a new hood is something else I'm wondering. S!@#
Its like when you paint the walls in your house. You mix all the cans together then paint it cause even though its new paint it will still be a little diffrent. Also many paint guns lay paint out diffrent then each other.
If you waited 8 weeks, you can wait 8 more. A repaired hood isnt bad though, they dont paint the whole thing, just blend the area repaired. And they clear the whole, but if you could get some money off, I'd go for it.
that kind of stuff happens at the factory all the time and they send it to an in house body shop to be fixed. hell that truck could have already had a bedside painted from someone hitting it with a tool as it went down the line, and you would never know!! let them put a new hood on it and knock a couple grand off!!! and if it doesnt pass your inspection, tell em to paint it again!!!
When I bought my 97 it had the exact same thing - They told me don't worry we will "fix" it. After the repair I went and looked at it and they then had to fix it again cause I wasn't happy. 2nd time it looked good so I took it. Then about 4 years later the f-ing clear coat starts to peel - to this day I wish I would have told them to get me a new truck. Get a new one!!!
