Trying to figure out if I'm getting shanked on my oil change. I'm getting charged $96 for delo 15-40. What are you paying and for what brand oil? Might have to start doing it myself.
My mechanic charges me about $75.... i know he uses a Ford filter but not sure which oil....i know he is a Certified Ford Diesel Mech so it prob standard oil that Ford uses.
$54.20 - Rotella 15w40 and an oil filter, Fram, I think, all fluids checked and filled...been using these guys for several years, musta saved lots of $$...oh yeah - Wally World!
Ya, it's easy to do but it's $30.00 more for my local dealer to do it.. I think it's worth it to let them do it and they can deal with the old oil and filter mess.. And they can change the fuel filters too.. The one on the frame rail is about the dumbest design I have ever seen...

oh and all the times I have changed it all I have is a regular long ratchet, 2 clicks is all I can pull, air ratchet would make it a WORLD of difference.
People do many things for a living.. Some people have no mechanical abillity and others work seven days a week and don't have time.. That's what makes the world go around.. Some guys make not changing your own oil a big deal.. By the time the week is done is for me, I have replaced many hydraulic lines, Been covered in hydraulic oil, greased 3 to 4 hundred fittings.. The last thing I'm going to do is change my oil..
I pay $49.95 at the dealership. When I bought my truck, the salesman gave me a card for $49.95 oil change for the life of my truck. The first time I went to get it done the lady told me they cant do it for that price. After a quick talk with the manager, its in the computer and I dont even have to bring my card anymore.
Plus when I had my transmission serviced, they gave me a $10 off coupon for any product or service. Next time I got my oil changed it was $39.95!!! The lady was not happy lol.
used to do Rotella 5-40 and a Motorcraft filter, then went to mobil 1 filter. 19.50$ gallon for oil, 9.99 for filter.
Now,
Mobil 1 5-40 turbo diesel oil.. 21$ gallon... 4 gallons, M1601 filter, 12.99
plus oil fee tax.. some where around 97 bucks total. currently running it for 4K miles, doing a UOA & changing it... hoping to be able to get 5-6K untill i have a bypass filter set up. but with the M1 filter, contaminates are lower then with the Motorcraft filter.
OK, after this I know I'm getting hosed at $151.89 for a Rotella oil change.:doh::doh:
