I bought a regular cab, long bed that has a short bed on it, frame needs to be cut down.
anyone know how much gets cut, im gonna set them on the frame and mark it but i wanted to get a rough idea, i think it is 18 inches, that sound correct? anyone done this and have pictures?
also, can i get a few pictures of 4 links? need to make this 2wd hook up.
i did, he e mailed me a few pictures, i got a little better idea, so far i know cut is 16" and you start right behind the bed bolts, and make the cuts opposite of each otherr.
I think I gave you all the info I had on it in a PM a few weeks ago, but cut the 16in out we used a 99 reg. cab short bed tank to fit in shortend the wires that needed to be. Had to custom make a fuel line and then shorten the rear driveshaft. That is all I can remember for now. Maybe it will help
iirc we cut right behind the cab maybe 3 or 4in behind you should be able to see be able to see the straight part that needs to cut out. Once its shortened your bed bolt holes should line right up.
so im measureing how for the cab hangs over the last cab mount, and how for the bed comes up off the last bed mount. and i have 16"
im just lost on how to cut the frame so i can knotch it and get the 16" out of it, so i dont cut two vertical cuts, and weld that together, i wanna knotch it, so it is like a puzzle sorta deal...
I dont know man we didnt pull the cab and only made two vertical cuts on each side. I do still have the section of frame rails laying arond if you would want a pic of those and like I said once it was cut the bed lined right up with no more drilling or cutting.
I would fish mouth the cut. Much stronger. Then bolt a plate behind the section on both sides of the weld.
