How often do youralls trucks or did they go into regen?? mine seems to regen about every 100 to 150 miles and it sucks and its starting to piss me off i get horrible fuel milage, i want to do a spartan and a dpf delete but im kinda scared to do it. i get 7.5 mpg hand caculated towing truck and trailor empty weights 15,580 lbs. around town on the dash it says 12.0 mpg this is absolutly horrible so whats the deal does everyones trucks that have a dpf get such ####ty fuel milage?
as for the whole dpf delete has anyone expeirenced any problems? i spoke to my dealership and they said they wouldnt void my warentee if i did the delete i would just have to take all of the stuff off and put the dpf back on if something happens to my truck and i need to take it back to the dealership, everyones opinions and thoughts are very much welcome
what year is your truck? do you know if its current on the flashes? i just got my 08 and had all the flashes up to date and i went 2000 miles without a regen and was getting over 16 mpg stock tune & s&b intake
Hey man, i have an 09 F350 with 36,000KM so far. My fuel mileage was horrible to, so i bit the bullet and put a 5" downpipe back stright pipe exhaust with Spartan tuner, and S&B intake. It was the best thing i have ever done to this truck. I am getting 23mpg with the cruise set at 130KPH, I first had some problems with my TCM but that was my fault i was messing with things when i didn't know what i was doing. It takes me about an hour do switch the stock to aftermarket exhaust so that is not a big deal. I would say go with the DPF delete you will be much happier!!!!!
My truck is a 2008 and im not sure on what flash it has i bought the truck used with 35,000 miles on it, how do i find out what flash is on it and how much does it cost to get the flash's updated?
I spoke to the dealership the truck had its last flash at 23,000 miles and that flash was done 02.05.2009 would there be a more current flash avilable?
i would say theres probably been 2-3 since then.. LOL if you know a fella (diesel tech) a lot of times they will do it free or buy them dinner or $50 or somethin depending on how nice they are/how well you know them... otherwise its standard diag fee/one hour labor ($80-100 depending on dealer...) could be well worth it though...i noticed a power difference and trans seemed to shift better after i got mind updated..
I would love to do all this and increase my mileage. What about emissions checks?
Below is from a mechanic I talked to today at a local Ford Garage. Anybody worried about it or should I even worry?
These mods do really work.........GREAT! BUT.......when this is done and you change for the manufactured emissions on the truck or car you are violating a Federal Law and they can pull you over at any given time to check you diesel fuel for the correct stuff and mandate emissions check.
That is when the crap hits the fan. It is not that the mods don't work. They work very well. It is when inspections take place. Ford is not required to prove that the mods caused any problems. The mods themselves violate warranty only because of the Federal Law that Ford is mandated to adhere to.
Yes very true!!! I live in Canada so i am good up here still and these mods do work VERY well for me with mileage. But it is different i know for you guys in the states i feel for you guys!!! It cost me 1750US for tuner, exhaust, and intake and i will be braking even soon with the fuel money i save that is for sure!!!!!!LOL
I am torn on he mod issue myself. I read up on the EPA website and saw that dealers can get in trouble for trying to resell vehicles that have emission tampering, and even in private sales there could be recourse for people that bought vehicles that were tampered with in private sales. It is a $10,000 penalty to remove or tamper with emission components. If shops get repair requests from customers that get them to, for example have to remove an air pump bracket to replace a water pump, and the air pump is missing, according to the law, they have to replace the air pump to perform the repair. I want to eliminate the regen, but I'm kind of waiting to see if the California EPA model migrates through my state.
Most dealerships will return a modded truck to stock form before they sell it. Some will leave the suspension lifts, big wheels and tires on for a coolness factor. There are a very few amount of dealerships that will even sell a truck that has Banks products on it.
How many people have been fined $10,000 for taking the muffler or cat off a car or truck? I would venture to guess not that many. More times then not if a cop writes a ticket for no muffler or exhuast its gonna be less then $200 for the ticket and in some cases its just a fix it ticket.
Look back to the late 60's and 70's at all the muscle cars that were seen cruising with open headers. People will continue to removed/tamper with emission control devices for years to come.
In the 6.4 powerstrokes case its for better fuel mileage and more power. You could always do a highflow or glasspak type muffler.
Which leads to my next question.
Are you going to just sit back and keep paying a higher fuel bill when you know others are deleteing fuel mileage robbing parts to save money?
On Edit:
I know someone will have something to add to that, Im just putting in my $0.02.
I figure there surly has been a new flash put out there since then lol.. as for the law i dont care what the law reads im more worried about something happening to my truck, cops and such are pretty cool around here i have never gotten introuble for smoke or aftermarket exhaust and honestly i hardly leave the state of kentucky so not much to worry about in that department.
im wanting to do a dpf delete the only thing is im about um 1500 shy of a dpf delete kit and a spartan tuner haha. i dont want the 275 or 310 tune because honestly i dont wanna break #### this truck has plunty of power in stock form the only real reason im doing it is for fuel milage and i just dont like the thought of this regen bullsh*t
If you think the your truck in stock form has plenty of power trust me the best milage you'll realize is w/ the Spartan or KEM 275 and 310 tunes. You won't break #### on your truck.
The best thing for you to do to increase your fuel mileage is to delete the DPF. Even with our DPF on tuning you won't see much of an increase, if any. I bet that your dash reading of 12.0 is high. I bet if you hand calculated, you would be sick at you stomach. With regeneration occurring every 100-150 miles, your mileage is probably in the 9-10 mpg range. I would be interested to know if its the flash you have that is causing it. That is pretty frequent.
The best thing for you to do if you don't want the 275 and 310 tunes is to buy our basic level 1 license tuner and a DPF/DOC delete pipe. That will give you 13 total tunes. 4 of those tunes are DPF on tunes up to 150 horsepower and the other 9 are DPF delete tunes up to the 250 horsepower tune, and also a 210 horsepower "tow performance" tune. With this setup, you won't have to worry about tearing anything up on your truck. You would really have to abuse it and not maintenance for any damage to occur with the 210 and 250 tunes. If you have any other questions you can either shoot me an email or PM. I am always happy to help!
its about 2.5 hours from me and no i dont think im going to go this time not really worth the drive just to see a race. ill se plunty of pulling and raceing here in about 1 month at scheid. im hopeing to have my spartan and dpf/doc delete on there before i head up
You will be very happy with the set up, it is a bit of money but it will pay for its self in a while!!!!
