I need to get my spare tire off but there is like a 6 point bolt in there. I checked the owners manual and it said i needed the "key" to unlock it or something.
Is there something i can do to get the tire off? I tried using a 12 point sockets but i couldn't seem to find the right size to fit it.
Anyone know how what size or a way to get it off without the "key"
i just got up in there with a set of cutters and cut the wire holdin the tire up. that or try your local ford dealer as they usually have a master set of keys for the spares
The cheap fix I believe is a cheap 9/16" socket, an extension and a hammer. Then crank it down with a ratchet and once down break the key part off then the normal jack handle will work.
look in your glove box, and under the rear seat on the passenger side where the jack is. also look on the jack handle under the hood. these are all places where i have found the spare tire key.
