Was at the races yesterday and they had a booth set up displaying their new bolt on 7.3 performance turbo. They claim it is a direct competitor for the Garrett. GT38r It is a thrust bearing design with a CNC aluminum compressor wheel. They are saying it will be about $1600 retail.
It is definitely NOT ball bearing.
Their web site is a little behind. 2009 was the last update to it. Percision Turbo & Engine
They were walking around the parking lot and putting the flier on every Ford truck in the spectator area.
HMMM- What more do you know about this? I am shopping for a new turbo for my 3yr 7.3 build (since my 38R took a crap) and know I need twin blowers to meet the driveability objectives I have. I have really been eying the Empire Procharger setup as it is. A combo Pack would be SWEET!!
I am serving in Djibouti Africa until OCT 2011, so I have some time to wait and research. And Save....
The turbo I saw in DP on the OBS was from Comp diesel and it had a 91 exducer. If I can get that for the SD and handle my 200cc's it might be worth it.
Someone is trying to talk me into one of these instead of a 38r. I d like to hear some more about them so I can make a informed decsion. Last time I bought the Tn drop in and we all know how that turned out
I m on my 3rd one in 25 thousand miles.I m not interested in getting into pissing match about how good or bad the tn turbo is .I could really care less. I want to hear about this new precision turbo
I will keep you all posted. From what Ive seen its a little slower to spool than the 38r. but its stronger mid and on the top end. That machined wheel looks pretty sweet also . I was told the exhaust housing and shaft are the same as the 38r
