Well finally found the source of the vibration on a 02 F350 I just purchased. The ATS converter that was in the truck button that goes into the crankshaft was about 1/4" too short. From the 30 min convo with ATS I have a feeling they aren't going to help me out. So what are my options? My truck is sitting on the lift at the mechanics shop and I plan on leaving Saturday on vacation.
Or it could be that that someone didn't recieve all the parts, no one knows the story here. It could also be an ATS delivered trans wrongly assembled, not an uncommon thing for ATS trans if you go by the ammount of failed ATS trans threads..
well, I know they have 2 different p/n's for 7.3's and 6.0's, its pretty obvious when you look at them which one is which without having to know much. the most probable story would be that the previous owner who put it in picked up a used 6.0 converter and figured it would go right in, not looking into adapters. if ATS had sent the wrong part, and this guy was the original purchaser of the TC, they would have swapped him out, not just send him adapters. so it tells me the "someone" you referred to was a previous owner trying to save a buck.
as long as we're just throwing balloons up in the air, I will again toss the Obama balloon up there as well LOL
Ray's transmission shop in Ft Worth is who installed the TC. At that time Rays was installing alot of TC from ATS and I'm guessing someone from there grab one off the shelf that was either in the wrong box from ATS or just grabbed the wrong one off the shelf. Who really knows? ATS offered to do a cut and clean blah blah for $580 me paying shipping both ways. But I opted to just keep my converter after talking to John Wood and getting what i needed to install this TC into my truck. Hopefully all is good.
O and just for the record we walked back into ATS to pick up his truck (after the 5th time of being down there in 2 months) and test drove the ruck and the obvious problem was still present. We came back in asked to speak to the tech and mike stepped in and actually told my friend he was full of sh*t and didnt know what he was talking about in regards to what had actually been replaced in the transmission. After that is when everybody got worked up... when Mike WALKED AWAY and then the other little desk fairy handed us their lawyers card! LOL what a stand up bunch of guys!! And as for you lilredranger you must get along great with those guys just judging by your skewed story....
Curious to hear your rendition.... All I said is we had an argument that turned into shouting cuz we all let tempers get the best of us. Simple... never said I threatened anyone or offered to get physical.
