95psd single cab 4:10's 5 spd 5" exhaust with down pipe fprmod, intake and tw 6pos chip on the way. I just got smoked by a 6.4 crew cabwned:wned:wned::doh::evil
I feel ya... I just got smoke by a stock LMM Duramax (I think) But we didn't have a flagger, and he just took off, while I was still trying to build boost. But that Duramax is a badass piece!
depends... do you have a manual or auto trans??? do you have guages yet?? what all is done to the truck right now? I'd say if you already have guages, exhaust, intake, and TW tunes w/ a manual trans you can do the clutch, DIY stage 1's, IC, electric fuel, and a modded 17* HPOP for $3k which puts you right at a 350hp ride at the wheels... for $5k you can upgrade to stage 2's and an H2E turbo if you can find the H2E kit used which will put you right around 430-450hp maybe a little more.. after that you will need to keep an eye out for a set of head studs, springs, and pushrods, but won't be absolutely neccessary at that exact moment(although it is recommended to get those 3 items anytime you run a larger than stock turbo)
Thats a tall order...those trucks are beastly.....Id just smile and wave when he passes...you dont have a 800 dollar a month truck payment or expensive insurance.
Yup, with just a good tuner and dpf delete those things are running high 12's. A lower tune and they're still deep in the 13's. You'd be looking at approximately $10k to get there like stated earlier.
Go look around in the 6.4 Aftermarket section and you'll see what I'm talkin' about.
Man, Im having a little trouble with this myself. I have a little extra money layin around and kinda wanna just go buy a 09 and put a big spartan tuner on it and dpf del and rock that a$$. Then I realize that work is slow and I might need the money this coming winter. So it looks like the 2000 will be my daily driver for another year. WHich is fine with me...
Tuner intake and exhaust alone on a 6.4, will get you 12.8 or better @ 103+ mph speed. This is also a ccsb and being hot lapped. Tranny was still learning also
edit: on the bigger tunes from Spartan ot innovative
i know for a fact they will keep up with that, 600hp in a ccsb is alot, but 519hp in a 6500 lb truck is alot also, you of anybody should know a heavyer truck needs more hp to run that fast than a lighter truck. i not saying it will get them all but it will make them think real hard about it.
i WAS in the same boat as you, i was just gonna throw a 12v into it... but then i started realizing how much i'd miss my 7.3 and now i have new goals for it! the 7.3 may be outdated but its nowhere near dead
if u do get a 6.4 talk to nate at ptp he has some sweeeeeeet deals on dual exhaust, s&b,spartan tunes as a kit 500 hp for 1200 bucks(I only have 275 on my 450 and 4wd launches are retarded}....... come on u can find used 6.4s for cheap now everyone wants 6.7,s
Gale Banks probably figured out many people are priced out of the new diesel truck market and saw a market for the intakes. Many tow company's in my area are no longer buying the diesels's siteing their not cost effective to run anymore and are no longer as reliable with high mileage use.
