So I get in my truck this morning like every other morning and start it up. Put it in reverse and hit the ebrake release to back out of the driveway, as im backing out I notice the brake light still on. I pull off to the side, push the ebrake in and release it a few time, light still on. So I let the truck start to roll down the road and make sure the pedal still works fine, it does. I pop the hood and check the brake fluid level, its good. So I figure maybe something is a little sticky or something, so I start rolling, make sure to hit a few bumps pretty hard and hit the brake pedal pretty hard also, light still on. And the whole time im moving the truck is ding'ing at me. I will hook up AE and see what it tells me when I get home, just pissed off I had to go put the truck back and take my car to work last minute (which is dirty as all hell, but besides the point). Anyways, any suggestions/ideas on things it could be or that I should check? I will be getting started on it when I get home from work today.
If you use the E-brake a lot, the little rubber bumper that pushes onto the E-brake switch can wear out after repeated use. Check that. It is on the top of the foot acuated lever.
I have already noticed it is worn. Would it cause an issue letting the ebrake pedal to go up to high?
On Edit: I just re-read what you said  So what your saying is, that isnt a stop, but that rubber bumper hits the switch to tell the truck that the ebrake is off? Hmm, I definitly suspect that then, makes a lot of sense. Thanks! I will let ya know what I find.
THANKS!!! You were right, i looked up under there and it wasnt hitting the switch. For now I just turned it so the not so jacked up part hits the switch. Any chance you know where i can get a replacement for that rubber piece?
