I think I may have come up with a way to track how straight a vehicle goes down the track along with speed over the entire course of a run at a drag strip. Would this be useful as a product/service that would be marketable or is there any thing like it available?
GPS while handy for a bunch of stuff isnt going to do so hot showing how straight you go down a race track. It measures in time not distance. So if you make a nice slow drive down the truck you might get enough points to see how far off you are but if your even remotely fast there will be so few log points that it wouldnt do much good. Yes you could see where you started vs where you stopped at but without a photo overlay you wont have a clue which direction the track went when you look at the logs.
But the average gps unit logs at 1 hz. But I doubt anyones going to spend that much money to log track runs to see if they are driving straight. But thats just my opinion.
Im looking at doing this as cheaply as possible if the interest is there. It could also be used for tuning to see where flat spots are as your speed increases down the track i.e. if you need to shift sooner or later to maximize where your power is. What do you think the breaking point is on price?
