ive been wanting to do a sled pull since i got my truck a couple years ago but im too scared somethin is going to break. well i think im goin for it!! theres a fair locally that has a stock class (6200lb) next friday. i drive an 01 250, 7.3 with the 6637, wicked wheel, 4" turbo back, tony wildman tunes, AIH and CCV delete, and 3 guage pod. i had the front seal in the trans replaced last summer and i told the shop to rebuild it but they called and said it was in great shape and didnt need it, so i think it solid, but stock. all new u-joints a little over a year ago, when the front end was rebuilt and warn premium manual hubs and new wheels and tires were put on. so my questions are............
is this a bad idea?
what else do i need to make sure is in good shape before i do this?
should i pull in the 140 extreme, or heavy tow tune?
will my 275 65 20 goodyear wrangler at/s hook, what pressure f and r?
4LO, drive, O/D off correct?
how should i work the throttle, mat it, slowly lay onto it?
what does an 01 extended cab longbed 4WD diesel weigh?
those are the things i can think of, im sure theres alot more to it but i havent read up on pulling too much, i knew i would just want to do it!!! the truck is my daily driver and is in pretty good condition all around, but i know that doesnt mean alot when your working them this hard. any advice, tips, or recomendations would be greatly appreciated.
