hey guys im thinkin about doin the 05-08 axles in my 97 powerstroke. I just have a question about rim size. I have a set of 16.5x14 welds that i wanna run, they are the 8x170. What im wondering is will they work on those axles or do they require a 17in rim or bigger. Thanks for the help.
yes the 8x170mm pattern is the same, 16.5" probably will work with a very short backspacing. CAREFULLY grinding the caliper for clearance could be done for additional clearance at your own risk, then use a belt sander and 80grit to make a nice directional pattern to clean it up. I used the factory 18" 05' King Ranch wheels and they fit perfectly. Using a short back space increases your turning radius due to fender rubbing....food for thought
