bought my first powerstroke over the weekend its a 97ccsb. 5speed.... my problem is i have to shove my foot almost through the fire wall on the clutch pedel to get it to start fireing. also when i so much as move it a milimeter from that position it starts to roll when my foots 1 1/2 off the floor clutch is fully engauged i know from driving other 5speeds thats not right. i just dont know how to adjust all help is wanted.
ps clutch doesnt slip under heavy load or taking off from dead stop in 4th at almost full throttle...
Bushings are probably worn out in the pedal linkage...look under there and slightly move the pedal, I'm guess you wont' see the Master cyl rod moving with the pedal.
my truck isn't a manual, but i assume it is pretty similar to others, there should be a bleeder valve somewhere on the slave cylinder i would think  those of you who have manual trucks, correct me if i'm wrong here. then you take a bottle or something and fill it with clean brake fluid, put a piece of hose in it and hook to bleeder valve, pump on the clutch, open bleeder valve and let air bubbles drain out (making sure that the clutch master cylinder reservoir doesn't get low on fluid). and repeat until no bubbles in clean fluid bottle. this is gravity bleeding, bench bleeding the master cylinder is better, but gravity bleeding should at least have some affect. this has been my experience in the past on other vehicles, if this is incorrect for the powerstrokes, somebody correct me. lol. also, i might mention that it is extremely helpful to have an assistant for this process to pump the pedal, check the reservoir fluid level, etc
I'm telling you...check your bushings first. Most of these trucks have worn out bushings in the pedal linkage, you don't get enough travel at the master cyl. rod because the slop in the bushings.
The pin on the clutch lever may be worn down also from the nylon bushing being worn out. That would be enough slop that you can't get the truck in gear while the engine is running and the truck is stopped.
been a little busy guys i will get back on this project tommrow first i will be checking the bushings. if tht is it how and where can i get them to replace?
i think its the bushings now what and how do i remove to replace them and which ones need replaced
