going to take off next month around the 4th thinking about going south and seeing the sites. Anybody have any ideas on what to do or see, I have a 5 year old girl I am taking.
my girl likes animals, really just want to get away from my business, We thought we would visit do there. I really have no plans yet, driving down on the 3rd probably.
Audubon Zoo is one of the best zoos in the country. And there's also the Aquarium of the Americas and the Insecterium. And the Kid's Science Museum (I think that's what it's called). And the D-Day Museum is awesome, although that'd be more for you than her. They have package deals you can do for the zoo/aquarium/insecterium and I think for the Kid's (or Children's maybe?) Museum. New Orleans has a lot more to do (besides drinking and partying) than people think. You can also come to this side of Lake Pontchartrain (the Northshore) for some swamp tours. There's a number of festivals going on right now too I believe, on both sides of the lake.
so I think I need to spend a couple days around new orleans by the way it sounds. I read about ticket packages you can save some money if you buy a combo ticket. Thanks for the info
Big Adam. I live in Lafayette off of fieldspan or duson to be exact. I have a freind that lives near you on the youngsville rd buy the shell station. I am always in the area. I drive a white 09 king ranch with 8 in lift.
Shucks! - The Concept I personally prefer Shucks over Prejeans though.
Not as pricey, they have better food as well. Their margaritas are off the chain.
wife wants to see plantation houses, are they worth seeing or is it going to be a waste of time. I am guessing I am not going to see the coast cuz of the oil leak the ocean has.
PLantations are pretty neat. You can still see he coast, its not as bad as it sounds. I would spend a couple days here, The zoo thing has a boat you can ride to the aquarium, kids love that.
if your girl likes animals, check out Global Wildlife. in folsom, la. we just got back, awesome day trip. covered wagons, free range animals. good times.
Also, you can come to the beach down here in Bay St. Louis. The water has never been much for swimming, so that's up to you. Also, we have some good fishing down here at night if you're in to fishing. My bro catches shark, large reds, and more off of Garfield Ladner Pier. It's a nice setup.
not planning on swimming, just to say we seen the coast, Its probably going to be hot in july but thats about the only time I can get away while its still warm. I am in the outdoor powersports and lawn and garden. This is my busy season but my girl starts school this year so we have to go now. You guys are giving my some great ideas. I always plan way ahead before we go but havent even started this time and we leave in less than a month. Do I need to plan anything for the west part of the state or just the eastern part? I would love to fish while I was there but dont know if the wife will let me.
sounds like we are coming down on the 3rd of july, start the zoo thing and stay a few days and start heading towards baton rouge and hit plantation houses. Then come back across and hit the global wildlife and insta gator farm and try to airboat. I am just having a hard time getting a time line on how long this will take me. I kinda need to book places to stay and cant really get any good ideas on how long to spend there. Any help would be great!!!
I think I wont eat the week before so I can gorge myself while I am there.
