I have been looking at the new Super Duty's lately and truly think that the 6.7L is a nice truck. I'll be moving up from a Lightning SVT 5.4L. I am pretty set on a F-250 Creb Cab, Short Bed. Not sure sure about color yet.
Does the 6.7L have the Regen process like the 6.4L? Or did the DEF eliminate that?
I am just worried that it might be too much truck for a daily driver, if there is such a thing. lol Im just used to the lightness & speed of my F150 Lightning. But need to tow my 30' Boat from time to time for maintaince. Thanks for any help
Yes it still has to regen the DPF, but not suppose to be as often as the 6.4
Go test drive one.... it might be quicker than the Lightning, and no contest with pulling the boat
And you can never have to much truck :evil
I used to be on the "Sport" side of trucking as well. Now I'm in an F 350 Dually, and LOVE it. It also is my daily driver.
I don't think you'll go wrong moving to the Diesel. Just chip it and DPF/DEF Delete it and you won't miss the performance either. Your fuel mileage will probably be even better.
i left my 1st gen lightning for a powerstroke well still have the lightning but u will love it so much more i cant even imagine driving the svt as a daily driver anymore its not just the speed the luxury of one of these trucks and u can use them for everything all purpose truck more room u can go off road pull anything and with a small amount done once tuners come out for these things they will prob be much faster than a lighting i think ur making a great choice
I have a 7.3 but I have been looking for a lightning to be my toy to play with. I debated on trading my truck in on one, but I just can't do it because it seems every time I come close I need to pull my truck into a spot where a lightning would get torn up.
:whs: i hated driving my lightning every day cause i was so scared something would happen to it i still love that truck though and it looks its best just sitting in the garage
If you Got the money to get into a F250 or 350.i would say Do It!
I've had a couple Diesels ,then gas half tons again and One things for sure it ain't no Trouble to Go back to a half ton and lower your Payments again!
I Figure i loose about $10,000 everytime i do it LOL But they Just Keep Improving the Trucks and motors and i've always been a Torque Hoe :~)
Sounds like you should let it get good and Hot before you Buy it so You can see If shes a Ticker LOL That Really stinks For Ford i'm sure...
I went from a 03 lightning to my 7.3, i love my diesel and its much more practical than the svt was but i still miss that little truck. Its like a mustang but it was actually fast and had a truck bed and trailer hitch. I will say one thing i pulled a 26' cargo trailer full of crap when i moved and the truck did great... I just missed 4x4 on the job at work and it was to small inside for me with the woman and a 125lb. yellow lab
Man i miss that truck the whine of the charger sounds almost as good as the 7.3's turbo spooling..............almost
Im just debating 2WD vs. 4WD. I have towed my boat with my cousins 7.3L twice that is 2WD and it didnt loose traction getting out of the ramp. the boat weighs about 11k w/ trailer. Whats the loss of MPG with a 4X4? I heard the resale on a 4X4 is better also.
i have had my new 2011 king ranch diesel for a month and one half.have
2300 miles on it.had an 03 king ranch and 08 king ranch.let me tell you
this the real deal.took it on 1000 mile trip and got 20.3 miles per gallon.if
this isn't truck of the year i would be really surprised.can't say enough about how sweet it is.the new trans is smooth as silk.if you drive one you
will be hooked. good luck
kermitws- I am looking at the King Ranch but have a small question. Does it seat 4 or 5? Is there a console in the back seat like the Harley Davidson's???
The KR seats 5, I don't know if the 4 bucket option is still around like it was on the Super Dutys back in the 99-07 days.. not sure at all. Have not seen any pictures of one yet. That looked cool as heck,, but was kind of useless for sure.
I have a 4 seater 2000 model, and it sure makes folks complain less when we're driving long distances... I don't like stopping once I've gotten the rig moving.
But I think a 5 seater CC won't be that bad either..
