so i finally got the GQSSB turbo dialed in and all other issues resolved. this thing is quick! my 8k pound truck now hauls a$$! i have been wanting to start this thread for a while, but other issues have kept me from being able really run the truck. well, all issues were finally taken care of today. new IDM, PCM, TC and some good tuning by the wizzard took care of everything.
Jacob.. thanks for all the phone time and PMs getting the install done. got some great advice from you!
David.. thanks for all the time you spent diagnosing the "ghosts" in my truck. i really dont think anyone else would have figured out that TC issue. they would have blamed it on the bigger turbo. and like you said.. "these cushtom tunes are really fasht and i owe you lotsh of money!"
gonna have the truck at the races friday, so i will post some new times when i can. hoping for low 13s..
Glad you finally got all the bugs ironed out. I knew when you called about it not wanting to spool up during a brake stand for a 4wd launch you had some other issue in the truck. Amazing how much a busted sprag in a converter can affect performance of the vehicle.
In talking with David on the phone after the new TC was installed and the tuning was dialed in, even he was impressed with the turbocharger. Believe that was the first one he's been able to drive/tune on the street.
Good luck at the track this weekend, let us know how it turns out

o yes.. weather is lookin better and better. was a good chance of rain, still might.. but i'm optimistic! also.. found a pretty serious exhaust leak on the driver side and fixed that today. this thing spools even quicker now! prolly even more responsive than the stocker. of course mr. lott willsay that cuz of the cushtom tyooning. oke: anyway, still planning on the track!

made a few runs tonight. the turbo definitely has more pull.. all the way around. my times were a little slower, but i was being conservative and had some tranny issues. best time was a 14.1 @ 96.5.. should have been mid 13s at least. i would have made another run, but the oil leak i thought i fixed this morning came back and the tranny was not happy after the 2nd pass! anyway, more pull but slower times. hopefully i can get this resloved next time i am home and get some passes to brag about!
Here is a pic of you at the tree. I ran 3 times and the MF'er didn't get a pic of my truck. It's not like there were that many vehicles running anyways...
lmao.. nice man, thanks. she definitely is strong, i was just expecting better times i guess. anyway, had fun, and it was great to meet some folks from here. gonna call david in a bit to try and figure out whats going on with the tranny now. oh ya.. thanks for findin that pic.:ford:
Who says you need to get rid of the PMR's to break the 15 sec mark. Check my sig. It Runs consistent 14.4's @ 8200lbs. I've had this exact set-up on 2 PMR trucks with no broken rods yet. Its nothing ground breaking whatsoever, but the power does feel good. I want a 13.99 so F'ing bad....
Maybe I got the super high strength PMR's or something, IDK. LOL
ehh.. 14 seconds @ 1600* wont hurt! oke: j/k man.. i know the feeling. i shoulda run again to try for 13s, but i was worried about the trans. gonna go over it when i get home and snug everything up.. maybe go back this friday to redeem myself. LOL
LOL I dont want to take anymore of a chance then I am right now and have in the past. I had my motor hydro lock when an injector hold down bolt broke off with my stage IIs. I was doing about 70mph and somehow nothing bent
Thats what I thought. My SES light came on and I was like ummm ok and everything was good for about 10 seconds and then the truck started to shutter really really bad like it had just hucked a rod and I put it into neutral and coasted to a stop. I tryed to restart it and nothing, it just sounded like the motor was seized. No turning over nothing. The bad thing was it was about -10 degrees outside and I had to sit there in my not running truck for about 2 hours before my Father got there. It took the tow truck about the same to get there and he was only a 15 minute drive from there.
My dad is a mech at Ford so him and the diesel tech took it out and it was down to a rotating assembly and it was all good. The only thing I was mad about is my dad would not swap out my PMRs for my forged set i have sitting around. Kinda made me mad but o well. He said the cylinder walls still have the factory machining scoring or whatever its called and the motor looked like it had well under 100K miles on it. This was at about 175K miles when this happened. I am pretty impressed that it looked that good seeing as I beat on that thing and its still doing good. O no cracks in the pistons either which I was happy about. I use to run the truck up to 1600 with my stage IIs in it but nothing happened becausee of it. I am pleased with my motor.
