What r sum signs that a rearend is going out. I have a 7.3 f350 with a dana 60. The truck has 24000 miles on it. Trucks goin 2 the shop for its 4th tranny so wondering what else I have 2 fix
Most of the time there is no doubt about it when it fails. But if it's the bearings, you'll get some roaring that gets progressively worse. If it's the ring or pinion gear....it'll let you know in a hurry!
One that's set up properly and serviced regularly rarely goes out without some help!
I have a leak between the driveline and the rearend. My buddy that tows my truck (he owns only fords) said that its prob the spider gears cause the rest rarely goes out.
If it aint' dripping on the ground, don't worry about it. Can't really see how a spider gear can cause a leak. Unless of course you blow one up and it knocks a hole in your differential cover.
Yeah a 10.5. Its easy to do a pinion seal if that is the problem. All you have to do is mark the pinion, flange, and nut so when you put it back together you put it in the same place. As long as you have no other rear end problems you will be fine.
