Well I finally got to hook up to a sled this weekend at the OBX Pro Diesel Challenge. I am proud to say that I am now officially "Hooked" lol. I love it, and I am ready for the next event... :evil
Pull was with no blocks, or traction bars. I had about 600 pounds of weight in the back of the truck... Scales said I weighed 7550
looks good man, as far as the scales I would guess they are quite a ways off, your truck should weight over 7,500 without weight added. now i would build some blocks so you don't lose any hitch height.
Yeah I know. I thought the same thing. A few others said that they were off quite a bit. And I got them blocks built today... Still waiting on my traction bar hardware to get here. I am going to be ready for the next pull.
When you build your weight rack (and you will now) make sure you can hang 500 more than you need for the actual class. Then when the scales are majically off by 3,4 or 500 you too can cheat. lol
there is a night and day difference with block and bars much less a weight rack. But with the classes we normally pull in at morgans corner and chapanoke you wont really need a weight rack unless your going to the mod. diesel class then you will just be under power like me. but i have some stuff left over from when i built my rack
I told you once you got one pull out of the way you would be good to go. Just let me know David and you can grab that hitch and have you one made. We can go up to agri-supply here in gville and get the stuff you need.
Yeah, on the first pull, I just put it in Drive and let it shift, and it shifted into 3rd for just a second and then right back out. I think if it wouldn't have done that, it would have gone alot farther, but oh well. I had a blast.
I snapped my yoke and twisted the pinion with a stock truck. Running 35's and no traction bars! I would highly recommend building some bars if your going to pull, it is cheaper than rebuilding the rearend.
