Very nice. The price for the intercooler is roughly what it was when CityDiesel had when they made them. The tube and fin cooler would be the way to go. Will it add performance, possibly. Will it add some reliability vs the crimped plastic tanks, possibly. As long as it really is made from the material they say it is.
I think someone with the knowledge of intercoolers and stuff should contact that them n dig info out of them to see how they compare WAIT I elect DOUG !!! All infavor say Doug
I would rather have somebody take a hit for the team and push the dog sh!t out of it. I can tell you anything over the phone/e-mail and show you a bunch of pretty pictures. Get that in front of some high hp/tq trucks and see how they hold up. I would do it but I don't have the funds and my truck is bare @ss stock except for some recon lights (extra 25 hp there).
It say's the rad has 30% better cooling....this is like when they say the Mag-Hytec oil pans give better cooling, isn't it? Once the oil is up to temp, as per the thermostat setting...it controls to THAT temperature...regardless of any bigger/better/stronger cooler...
BTW...I do have the Mag-Hytec pans and covers....transmission still gets to about 135*F, and who know what the diff's get to...
Intercooler... I can see that helping because there is NO thermostatically controlled media...so the bigger/better/stronger it is, the better.
30% more capacity just means that after a few miles of driving, you have 30% more coolant at 192-205*F...you have to change the themostat to a lower temp one if you want cooler temps...
Actually the thermostat regulates the temp inside the engine. Not what is in the radiator. They are claiming a 30% efficiency improvement. Which would mean the radiator is able to remove more heat from the RADIATOR. So you would have the ability to remove heat from the system.
With your mag hytec example, you know the thermostat is at 180 inside the pump in the transmission. So if it is only running 135, the thermostat isn't opening...
I like the fact the rad doesn't have the crap plastic ends on the tank, looks well built too. I would try one if the need arised and I broke my rad for some reason.
if the radiator is 30% more effective that would mean the t-stat would have to be closed that much more to keep the engine at running temp, thus you have more cooling capacity on tap for extreme conditions because the t-stat can still open further.
did anybody find out more about the ic and radiator yet???
