c1284 is an oil pressure switch failure at the instrument cluster. That is all I can find on it. Is your truck not showing correct pressure on the dash or not working at all? This code is in reference to the low oil pressure switch on the back of the HPOP resevoir.
C series codes are chasis codes it looks like. I also think it means your instrument cluster is slightly annoyed. It also l looks like you are not the only one to see this but it is not common.
Either your gauge is bad or your sending unit is bad. I would replace the sender on the resevoir first, after having made sure the wire has a good clean tight connection to the sender. If both the wire connection and sender check out ok then it will be the gauge in the cluster. the only fix for that is to replace the cluster. To check the sender you can disconnect the wire lead and use a mulitmeter set to ohms and place one lead on a good ground and one lead on the contact on the sender and with the engine running watch for the ohms resistance to change on the meter.
Yep. Bad clusters are rare, but they do happen. Usually the issue is the sender or the wiring in between. With it reading sometimes and sometimes not, you might want to check the harness also.
