when i take my atv with me up in the mountains i always had to pay a extra couple of tolls threw the toll booths well i welded up a custom atv rack now forget the extra tolls the rack weighs about 100lbs the atv well 600lbs but the excursion doesnt mind it it handles good and actually rides better
nice! thats the way to show those toll booths.. spend 200 bucks on materials and save an amazing 2.75 at the booths. oke: :hehe: j/k bud, looks sharp.. i been thinkin about that myself actually.
liltugger theres 4 tolls one way i had this setup over 6years plus i recieved the steel for free i do tow a trailer when i take 2 or more atvs i wanted to post this to show what a excursion can hold for the do it yourselfer my truck is stock in the suspension area
hey bud, i wasnt hackin on ya, just sounded funny, so i posted up. it really is a good way to haul one atv, and i HAVE been thinkin about the same thing. my toolbox makes it tough to throw one in the truck bed, and i just havent engineered a rack sturdy enough for my grizz yet. good job, seriously! bet you get a little satisfaction chub everytime you go through a toll booth with that thing though! :hehe:
Use a load leveler hitch. My toy hauler is big and has a tongue weight of alot and it is fine with the weight distribution. The factory hitch is rated at 12.5k with a 1250 tongue.
It can be done, but it's a major PITA because the existing X hitch is integral to the frame. Two of the mounting bolts will need to be cut because there's a funky backing fastener on them. You'll also need to drop the fuel tank.
Ive been thinking of something like that for my truck.
