Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
You don't need a lift. Open the hood. Remove the intercooler tubes. Remove the turbo. Remove the intake. Also attached the oil cooler docs. If you want to change it while you are in there.

Is the kit you got a couple of little block off pieces of metal?

Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
no its made by sinister diesel. it has a new down pipe and a solid egr pipe and a flat piece to go over the egr sensor.

Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
Doesn't the intake have to come out to get the cooler out? Unless you take the inner fender out? I heard it was a pita if I remember correctly.

Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
I did the one from First Coast diesel and I had to remove the intake manifold, it made it a lot easier. As for the turbo, it doesn't have to come off but if I were to do it again, I definitely would because it was a PITA but my buddy didn't want to take it off for some reason.

Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
sinister and RCD say no intake removal is necessary with their delete, but by the time you get done trying to not remove the intake and maneuvering the EGR cooler out, you could have pulled then intake off twice..

You do have to loosen the intake to get the EGR cooler out though. Easier to go ahead and remove it, as everyone said. If you can get it out without lifting the intake I would like to know how. I would advise doing the oil cooler rebuild while you are in there, if you haven't already decided to. Not much left after you make it to the EGR cooler. If is your first time removing the turbo, it is not as easy as 3 bolts and a couple clamps (Especially if you have an 03). The turbo was the hardest part. I had to remove the pedestal also to get the intake out. My 03 is torn down to the oil cooler right now. |

Stupid of me to say haha, my bad. But still even if I had to do it without a new manifold, getting my hands down in there where the egr is to begin with is cramped, I think I'd rather have the manifold off.

Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
take an air hose and vacuum to the top end around the intake to make sure no dirt gets into the intake runners on the heads

Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
the ones i have done you only have to loosen the intake, not remove it entirely. once you do one they get easier. i can do one in about 2 hours but i have done several. when you loosen intake bolts leave them in the intake so you dont forget where they go!!!!

Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
The likelihood of your intake being very dirty is very high. That's a pretty good reason to remove the thing and get it cleaned.

Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
Is there a need for new intake manifold gaskets, or just stick with the originals?

Re: easiest way to install egr delete kit
Depends on how careful you are, they are reuseable but if you tear them up then you will need new ones.
