Re: what is the biggest tire size i can fit on my dually

A 255 is as big as you can go before you need spacers in the rear. Others will chime in, maybe with pictures. But I think a 255 looks darn good on a leveled 4x4 dually!

Re: what is the biggest tire size i can fit on my dually

You can run a 265 all the way around if you put a 3/8" spacer in between the rear duals. And it will still leave you enough threads to get a full nut on the stud. You will need to jump up to a 2 1/2" or 3" spacer if you want to go bigger. And stay away from eBay when purchasing spacers.

Me too.. I keep them at 80lbs though. No issue's dragging a 12,000lb excavator around.

Not that there will be any issues, and I know you (Lonald) pull a trailer alot, but with my dads dually (identical to yours) the rear tires would touch if we loaded it with our dual tandem and the backhoe or dozer. Those tires will heat up quick and possibly blow out if they are touching. But some tires are different than others.

If you come to one of the Texas Diesel Shootouts in Baytown I'll give you a set. I'll try and remember to throw them in my tool box so ill have them. I had 4 of the spacers cut out for my truck back when I was running stock wheels so they didnt rub my leaf spring.

Re: what is the biggest tire size i can fit on my dually

Without spacers and a level kit, 265's. Level kit and spacers - 285's. I think the 315's might also work with the level kit and spacers, but then the rim width might start becoming and issue.

Re: what is the biggest tire size i can fit on my dually

Whats the best spacers made?? I got 235 and hate them they look wimpy and the ride gets annoying. Also i want to make my truck more off road worthy as i live in AZ and go out with friends camping and off roading and it needs more ground clearance. I was thinking 285 or 295 what do i have to do to fit them, and how much are spacers and a leveling kit cost ???

P.S one more thing that has been bothering me, can a DRW flex just as good as a SRW if its lifted the exact same way?

Thanks

Re: what is the biggest tire size i can fit on my dually

It's mostly in the suspension... So I don't see why one would flex more than the other. Except maybe axle weight.

Don't buy the spacers made out of "billet aluminum" (ebay). They are junk. For a good set of heavy duty spacers, my buddy paid $500 for a set of 2. Prolly weigh 25-30lbs each. They are worth it. Leveling kit will run you around $200. You will be able to run 285's no problem and your truck will look sick! He bought the spacers from some place in Houston I believe, not sure of the name though. Be careful when buying spacers. Mose of them that are sold come with fine thread studs. Ford studs are course thread. The lug nuts provided will need to interchange with your stock lug nuts.

Just a thought, Ya might try calling a place like 4 wheel parts and ask if they know of a company that sells them, or ask them where they get the spacers that they use when they lift dually's and put bigger tires on them.

Talk to one of these guys and see if they know...

Re: what is the biggest tire size i can fit on my dually

K thanks, and for the snow part they should do fine, the only trouble you have is when u don't have 4wd. I had a 2wd DRW that had to get pulled out with a Chevy Blazer. After that i sold it and got me a 4wd.

Im not sure if these are the ones he has or not.
This company makes them Welcome - Arrowcraft :: Helping You Handle the Road for over 30 years!

They say that there is NO ALUMINUM used in any of there products.

I emailed arrowcraft directly and this is what I got.....

The rear adaptors, magnums are $395/pair and the fronts (AA-4s) are $305/pair. This is for the 99-04 model Ford 250/350s.Both come with mounting hardware included.

The rear spacers you need are the Magnums. $395 a set sounds like a good price to me.

I believe the minimum thickness you want to get it 2.5". If you get a spacer that is too narrow, your factory studs will stick out past the spacer and come in contact with the outside wheel. Ask me how I know.. I would measure the length of my wheel studs and rim thickness and see what you need. A 2.5" spacer will be plenty for 285/295's.

Man I want to convert my truck over to a dually.

Anybody want to make there truck a single wheel? We can do some swapping....

Re: what is the biggest tire size i can fit on my dually

i have ran 255/85/16 on stock rims no spacers but i opted to put a 2.5'' spacer on to get between the tires to set tire pressures when towing and not towing.

whats wrong with aluminum spacers?
