Tell them to look it up, Napa does carry it. I read a post around here that all Napa's have it, just tell them the part number. I don't know the part number or I would post it.

Why is everybody running the 5w-40 instead of the 15w-40? Colder weather? Is the 5w too light for the hotter climate down here in Florida?

Works great all summer long. Temps were high 90's to low 100's here this past summer and it did fine with the 5w40.

They both are a 40 when they are warm. The cold flow rating is what is affected while its warming up.

Tried them all and it just doesn't matter when you dilute it with diesel fuel. Need to get this damn injector fixed...

Re: best oil for the 6.0

yeah 15 quarts = 3.75 gallons..
Most of the airplanes I fly dont hold 15 quarts....except the ones with beeeg round engines that hold oil in 5 gallon tanks and burn/leak 2 quarts per hour...

This is true, but its worth the peace of mind to me I suppose. Im using the dealer supplied motorcraft now and it does fine. Thinking of switching to Ams Oil premium oils and lubes all around soon.

Re: best oil for the 6.0

I changed oil yesterday, used rotella 5w-40 . and two bottles of Rev-X. I just went out to start my truck and it was SMOOOTH, no missing, bucking, spitting, OR big white smoke signals anymore... Not too shabby.

Re: best oil for the 6.0

I am running Shaeffers 9000 5w-40. I have been happy with it. I would try the Valvoline 5w-40 if I found it somewhere conveniently local.

I am going to add a couple bottles of Rev-X too on my next change.

Re: best oil for the 6.0

I would love to run the Shaeffers 5w-50 syn, but I have to go about 100 miles to get my hands on it. So I usually settle on Rotella 5w-40 syn.
